Anyone else think the Xnon are OP?
The split won't defend themselves. They won't make any big ships and the Xenon are steamrolling them. I feel like that If I leave they will be wiped out.

yes Sep 4, 2020 @ 1:10am
the xenon advance will stall but the split is probably losing all their ships to the xenon so they cant defend them selfs

If they weren't OP to an extent factions would manage them on their own with no need for player support. ZYA is a great customer once you build a shipyard although I had to help them out with 59B, after that however they took all the sectors between there and Wretched Sky's X/Tharak's Cascade and now keep them locked up in 79B. My problem now is factions are to powerful, I'm actually rooting for the Xenon's to make a come back.

Building a shipyard and completing the plots can help strengthen factions over all. That and helping them out by not letting those ships you just built for them get destroyed. After a period I removed my DP's protecting them, they no longer need them.

You realize they're not OP the moment you take a single destroyer in sector and manage to wipe an I accompanied by a couple of Ks and a number of smaller trash (p s , m s etc) in less than 10 minutes and without suffering too much dmg in the process.
What's giving odd results is OOS combat and stupid faction AI.

Pre-3.3 I saw PAR sending in Zues's with no fighters or escorts to defend WSX and get destroyed one after the other. After completing the PAR plot and building TRI and PAR up via shipyard they now send full fleets and are holding them at bay in WSX. A combination of those two seems to have solved the stupid factions problem.

I've watched the combat and they're doing a much better job of standing off and attacking in force than I witnessed in past. They still take heavy losses but they manage to keep enough assets in sector to defend. RHA however with an equipped Raptor/Monitor fleet took out an I and 3 K's and survived. Split really do seem OP as compared to other factions.

OOS they are. Seen a single FAF rattlesnake taking out 3 tel destroyers with escorts without problems. When i got in sector to cap it, it got wrecked by a couple of corvettes and fighters with missile/torp spam.
Also had a fleet of 5 rattlesnakes+some behemots (full plasma for oos fighting) guarding a gate. One lone FAF rattlesnake jumps in and manages to blow up one of my rattlesnakes and badly damage 2 others .All in OOS.

I think FAF Rattlesnakes are rather unique, judging by the complement of Marines on board I think they also get a hefty pilot skill boost with 4+ captains although I haven't thought to check that, will do in future. I've noticed they pick their battles well unless you're blocking off a sector. I had one patrol near my fleet of 8 destroyers and chose not to engage but flee without even being hit.

I think if you support the economy and leave the xenon alone they don't do well. In both my new games they are losing ground without much interference from me. The teladi and other factions seem to help out other races by building in their areas.

Last game, the xenon lost badly after some ingame days. I even wished to build their ships myself, to support them. Lets see how they do now.

OOS, xenon are even more pitiful. Time not spend in dogfighting is often redirected to economic and industrial management, that lets xenon completly hopeless.

You have to understand X4 is not a 4X. On economic side you will always win, so in the military side also.
Xenons are not a threat but guarantors of the universe economic health. The real threat is their extinction.

X4 the archetype of the easy game. You choose how it starts, you know how it will end, and it is to you to write the story between the two.

Anecdote ; It is the only game I can let run alone all the night, to come back in the morning stronger and richer.

That's one of the beauties with X4 - your experience is not the same as mine. In my game Teladi and Split have invaded Xenon territory, pushing them back a bit. Op? Not at all, they should be a considerable threat.
Axeface Sep 4, 2020 @ 11:06am
I do not think they are OP, no.
Sticky Sep 4, 2020 @ 11:25am
Both are true they can be either. If they have enough sectors to build and expand they will advance faster if they are not being diminished by under constant loss by faction or player wars. If you don't let them have much they will never be much. Though i like selling factions ships to battle other factions that i'm selling ships too also. Xenon also helps the ships sales industry.

I was referring to rattlesnakes

I don't get why people think that Xnon are not OP. That run over the
Split like they are nothing. A K is more twice as strong as a destroyer and the I is much more stronger than that can own the system.
They mop up other faction ships like a destroyer would fighters.
Even turret weapons on equipment docks hardly hurt there shields.

I am don't have the power to build a shipyard and I don't know how to make one for the Split.

I can fight off there ships IF and only if I fly them myself. Leave it to an NPC's and it's like. :steamfacepalm:
Yes it's that bad.

Because everyone game is different.

Some of my game starts have some very passive Xenon.
Others have them rolling over like a storm.

I do know that if you take out a few Xenon sectors the other sectors they have remaining become stronger.
