Building a shipyard and completing the plots can help strengthen factions over all. That and helping them out by not letting those ships you just built for them get destroyed. After a period I removed my DP's protecting them, they no longer need them.
What's giving odd results is OOS combat and stupid faction AI.
I've watched the combat and they're doing a much better job of standing off and attacking in force than I witnessed in past. They still take heavy losses but they manage to keep enough assets in sector to defend. RHA however with an equipped Raptor/Monitor fleet took out an I and 3 K's and survived. Split really do seem OP as compared to other factions.
Also had a fleet of 5 rattlesnakes+some behemots (full plasma for oos fighting) guarding a gate. One lone FAF rattlesnake jumps in and manages to blow up one of my rattlesnakes and badly damage 2 others .All in OOS.
I think FAF Rattlesnakes are rather unique, judging by the complement of Marines on board I think they also get a hefty pilot skill boost with 4+ captains although I haven't thought to check that, will do in future. I've noticed they pick their battles well unless you're blocking off a sector. I had one patrol near my fleet of 8 destroyers and chose not to engage but flee without even being hit.
OOS, xenon are even more pitiful. Time not spend in dogfighting is often redirected to economic and industrial management, that lets xenon completly hopeless.
You have to understand X4 is not a 4X. On economic side you will always win, so in the military side also.
Xenons are not a threat but guarantors of the universe economic health. The real threat is their extinction.
X4 the archetype of the easy game. You choose how it starts, you know how it will end, and it is to you to write the story between the two.
Anecdote ; It is the only game I can let run alone all the night, to come back in the morning stronger and richer.
I was referring to rattlesnakes
Split like they are nothing. A K is more twice as strong as a destroyer and the I is much more stronger than that can own the system.
They mop up other faction ships like a destroyer would fighters.
Even turret weapons on equipment docks hardly hurt there shields.
I am don't have the power to build a shipyard and I don't know how to make one for the Split.
I can fight off there ships IF and only if I fly them myself. Leave it to an NPC's and it's like.
Yes it's that bad.
Some of my game starts have some very passive Xenon.
Others have them rolling over like a storm.
I do know that if you take out a few Xenon sectors the other sectors they have remaining become stronger.
