How to disable mouse cursor
Is there a way to get the cursor to disappear while I'm flying around?

I always have to move it to the side of the screen and my guns point off to the side with it.

I have a targeting reticule in the center of the screen already so having the mouse reticule on top of it and then not moving while I'm fighting is weird.

I'm afraid you can't, unless you disable the HUD which will make targeting almost impossible. It stays there for the reason that you have the option to shoot on your mouse pointer, instead of changing direction (very useful in strafing runs).
I suppose people with joystick have other means but X Universe started as a mouse and keyboard game and still too many people (me included) keep on plying it this way. After all joysticks always had a hard time to be configured in the X series...

Ok, thank you for your help.

Yeah I understand. I started X2 that way back in 2003 or 04.

There is a way to enable Classic Flight Mode, I think it also disables the mouse cursor. I think the keyboard shortcut is ctrl+shift+space but I believe I changed it to this at some point because I often enabled it by accident, the default is probably something else, you can look it up in the control settings. However flight will be like in X1 and X2, without gun rotation.
