easy way to restock missiles?
So, as my fleet gets larger and larger it becomes really hard to keep track of and restock missiles for all my M/L/XL ships, is there a way or future plans to allow some type of auto restocking of missiles?

A supply ship with cargo drones would be sweet. Carry lots of stuff and just RMB resupply stuff.

Hard to know what impact it would have.

Also my carrier carries 580 missiles and I so not know how long that would last in a fight.

Some might say it gives you unlimited ammo and therefore it is overpowered. But then you could say bringing 3 carriers to a fight instead of 2 is overpowered. Or using a frigate to kill an m xenon is overpowered. Not like this game in any way forces an equal/fair fight so it's not really overpowered is it? It would want to cost a fair bit.

So at the moment I believe you need to go to a suitable sized shipyard to restock OR you can store them and drones etc on stations of your own too. So I guess maybe building a forward defence station would effectively be an option. Need to test that idea to confirm it but I think you can transfer missiles and drones between stations and ships. You can definately transfer missiles from a ship TO a station. Never actually attempted to remove any before.

Yah the overall problem is that each ship doesn't have a setting to use a default missile type/loadout nor is there a working auto reload. Oddly the option exists in combat, your AI will announce out of ammo and if you hit F to respond you can tell them to keep fighting or go rearm..which is greyed out.

I just don't they have programmed in the code for missle type/loadout per ship and activated rearm just yet. My bet is a modder will do it first.

As for the Carrier being OP with to much ammo..nah. When your AI pilot spams 5-10 missiles per target because it doesn't wait a few seconds per launch to see if the target has been hit yet it goes quick.

Currently Transfering missiles from your ships to your Stations is the only way to arm your stations as well. Doing so actually unlocks the missile blueprint for what you dropped off.

Yes this is how I know you can go that way. I assume you can get them off onto ships too but I have not tried.

Once I had the blueprint I set my station to auto restock and somehow it made another 23000 missiles but I never figured out how......... Magic or does it consume components to do it ? Or buy them in ? What ship carries a half decent stock of missiles. They don't go on freighters as cargo. Gotta use a carrier (580 per) or whatever ships actual missile loadout to do it manually. Bleh. My brain is melting.

Still like the idea of a supply vessel. Maybe even combined with S & M ship repair facilities.

As far as I've seen, BOMBER designated vessels have the highest missile-weight-cost ratio. That doesn't mean that a Carrier is gonna have less than a Bomber, but if you spend the Carrier equivalent of cash for Bombers you'll probably get a bigger bang for your buck. Better yet, they are much more expendable.

Edit: Still, I'm trying to get them to restock as well, and a Manager doesn't seem to do it automatically.

I use Frigates to ferry intial missile loads/unlocks to my Stations. You should be able to install all missile turrets and launchers on one. I only have two dumbfire launchers on my current FFG loadouts and they can carry 107 ammo...so if I changed out all the turrets to missiles..3-400?
