Fleet management
Hi, as i´m playing right now i´m still not able to control big fleets efficient.
I´ve played the first games and i am at 600 hours on X3AP but the current fleet management ist terrible.

Maybe i have not found the right buttons yet, but something simple like "defent this position" should work for the whole fleet, even if this command goes to the leader with the attached fighters. it doesn´t matter if the fleet is just one carrier and a docked fighter or a giant fleet like i try to manage right now with 6 carriers and over 500 ships beneath them.

I´ts not possible to get them working, example: the fleet leader stands around a portal to a xenon sector with the defend area command. xenon comes thru the portal, they look at each other, the xenon flys thru with a "don´t mind me". Meh.

first off my leading ship should attack every hostile ship immediatly and second no matter what i say to the wings, "defend the ship" "docked" "do stuff" they will never attack a hostile ship on it´s own. And yes, the pilots and captains are 5 stars at this monent. doesn´t matter.

Another silly example: xenon comes thru the portal, i attack them manually with my leading carrier, carrier attacks, the other ships just sitting around. carrier wins the fight, all back to normal but with no position change whatosever. just sitting there with the global command of "defend this ship" (the leader) and in the list stands a "fly to and wait"

Select mupltiple targets seems not to work eiter, or i am just not able to use it proper.

okay in short: Fleets should act like a fleet. stay docked onto the carriers, enemy spawns, ships docking off, fight the enemy and dock back again for repairs.

but they don´t. And not to mention the extreme slow travel times. fly left behind the portal, fly back to portal, port. why? i dunno. will get fixed i hope.

I like this game besides all the bugs, the terrible UI, fleet management, logic view crashes if base is too big and so on. but i wanted to mention this problem so it can get fixed.

Edit1: Oh yeah, the formations are not working for me too. Doesn´t matter with one i choose, no reaction. every other command is resetting the chosen formation. so... yeah...

sure the commands need a big addon for more commands and better controll

but ever now is ther 1 or 2 things what you can do


first :

if you port to your Fleed ship and "controll" it you can select every ship in the Fleed like the commander ...so you can give all the ships a "Def the zone" command ... but you can only give 1 command so its not realy good :/

and thats only "work" if you have 10 ships in a Fleed ... don´t think you have the time for 50+ ships to command -.-


sec :

the A.I. is not the best ...so ever if a enemy is in radar range it din´t attack it at the same time ... it need some time but thats the time where the Xenon jump in the next sector -.-

but the command "def a place" work ... and it attack the enemy after some time

The first idea might come in handy. I´ll try it.

The second idea besides the known fact of A.I. with the I. of dry bread makes sense. Maybe that´s the reason the xenon just passing thru like some kind of unwanted tourists.

well funny thing ... i have a Fleed with 30 ships on a Gate to a Xenon sector ... the command was "Def the place " ... 2 h later the fleed kill the Xenon sector XD

well some times the A.I. will follow the enemy ever in the next sector ... as i say it need a lot of work ... the A.I. and the commands !

Same happend to me, well kinda. Some ships pursuit them into the sector and maybe die there.

X3AP was complex and easy in the same time, once you know what are you looking for to do, you will find a working option for that.

Normally i had there an open sector for a drug factory with two portals. each portal got one destroyer and one carrier with the hold and defend position command. xenon came in, fleets started from the carriers, destroys the foes and dock back again. Simple and perfect.

I watched the def a place behaviour. was kinda funny, the carrier locked on the xenon immediatly, but does not change the own route, fly past them and nothing happend. nice. oh and the wings doesn´t even recognized the xenon was even there.

We need more ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ micromanagement! I love it.
