How do I deliver construction materials to my PHQ without a dock?

Your builder has a minidock thingy you transfer construction wares at. Not the ship itself, but a dock in space close to your station. I transfered the wares through the map.

The builder has nothing, the station/plot gets a small free build storage structure outside the plot, which you interact with through npc trade command with the station.

As far as I know, the player themselves can't dock and trade with the thing, you have to order an NPC to trade with the build storage.

How do I hire a Builder?

Right click on the station, click plan build, somewhere in the menu on the right is hire/assign builder. Give me a sec ill see if i can toss up a screenshot, if someone doesnt beat me to it.

See down there at the bottom it says builders? Hire them from there. If there is another way however, i have not run across it yet.

To deliver materials that are in a ship, Select the ship, right click on station and "Transfer Wares With Build Storage".

Build storage is a little platform that is usually off to the side somewhere i assume you can probably dock to trade with it? I've never done it manually so just get up and let the AI do it lol.

If you forgot to didn't builder after confirming the build plans, just fine one on map, Right click on it, and Hire for building, you can do it as long as ou can see the builder (satellite spam is great for this)

Once you have your own builder, you can assign him to "Build" the same way you'd assign him to dock somewhere from the map.
Comming NPC builders like you could in X3 isn't a thing anymore though I believe.

Thanks, found a builder and he's arrived. However... here's where it gets weird. When I click my ship then right click the station I don't get the option to Transfer Wares (even though I have them in my hold). WEIRDER: When I click another ship that is in a station nearby then right click my station I get the Transfer Wares option!?!??! Why can this other ship transfer wares but I cannot from my ship!?

OK, this can't be intentional. I happened to have a crewman on my ship so I stepped out of the chair and promoted him to captain, NOW I can transfer wares to my Build Storage!

Got it. He docked with the Build Storage (which I didn't recognize - definitely not triangle lol!) and thats what I was missing.

You CAN (kind of) Deliver materials that youve sourced yourself to build the dock.

There is a small structure of triagle storage containers that doesn't sow up on the map. For mr its was a short distance in front of the builder I hired. You cant select it or interact with it, but NPCs can. I had to hire a captain, the one you start with works. I had transferred him to service crew, just made him captain again for this one thing. When you order the captain to transfer the wares (by right clicking on the station when you have a captain) that's where he goes to drop them off

Yea, the build storage is weird in that you can’t click on it or target it and it doesn’t show up on the map. However, if your ship is close enough to it, shift-D will activate the docking guidance to the storage rather than to the station. Once docked you can transfer goods to it just like anything else.
