How do you untarget something?

Title. I tried pressing T again, but it does nothing.

I click empty space but yeah the amount of times I have thought I had nothing selected then RMB to interact and find out it was still selected after all - annoying. Escape works but if you are on the map it drops you back to the cockpit view so it's annoying too. I am a very annoyable person it seems.

I find it annoying but I have to press left mouse button in empty space.
