Is it just me or....(teleportation)
Yes i have a problem with the teleportation systems thats in place. I know people will just say "just dont use it then...no one is forcing you to use it". Thing is i feel like am i cheating when i just TP to where ever i want and it takes a large part of the game out for me. I find myself using it because it a system that is in place.

Seems a little overpowered....I mean in x3 and earlier. You had to get a jumpdrive on a ship and the distance you could travel in sectors was determined by how many energy cells was in your cargo. Even after that you needed to get within 15km of the ship you wanted to teleport to even teleport and have the teleporter tech install on other ship if you wanted to teleport back.

Just small details like this i miss. Yeh ♥♥♥♥ it just teleport where ever you want in galaxy free of charge just seems ♥♥♥♥ to me and unimmersive. Dont get me wrong i am liking the game but little things like this tend to ♥♥♥♥ me off :(

Is it just me who thinks this? :(

Nope, not just you.

The Universe already feels very small enough with the highways, superhighway, gates and anomalies.
No idea why they felt the need to add teleportation...

I can agree that it changes the game. You lose the feeling of, “this is my flagship. I may have a fleet but this is my ship.” Cuz now you bounce around all of them.

But to be honest .... it takes a high time investment game and shrinks it. Wanna go scan that station? Instead of taking my slow ship there, I send a scout, teleport to it, do my thing, and go back to my “flagship”

While it does change things ... I think the game is better for it myself. Less time sink. More play.

heck I researched the first 2 teleportation things so I'm up to 2-3 sectors now, and either dont know how to sue it or its not working. bought a new ship and waited for it to finish then tried beaming into it from my flagship and it was in sight at the wharf, maybe because theyw ere both docked it wasnt listed on the tleporter pad controls, maybe jusy ahventy figured it out yet..lol.

With the super highways and trade lanes I really feel there isn’t a need for teleportation. It also seems kind of a rushed mechanic as all that happens is the screen shakes and blurrs and boom you are at your destination. There should be some sort of drawback to using teleportation or a cost of some sort instead of just 40 minutes or whatever it was of “research”. Hopefully they change it and make it make more sense. I’m right there with you - because it’s a mechanic of the game it’s hard to not use it just because you don’t like that it’s there...

Just pretend you are Q from Star Trek! :D

i realy like this...." your ship "name" is under attack ....a whole xenon fleet is attacking.....but you need 10 minutes to reach the sector if you fly but with teleport you can instantly join the battle....how is this not awesome

Now this is a great use of the feature. It’s intended to be fun and allow you to be “in the action” instead of traveling 15 sectors to your destination and the fight is over.

While I agree that it's FAR too easy to get the teleportation skill and max it out, I find that it does save a ton of time. I don't have to spend half an hour being bored just flying from one gate to the next, to the next, to the next, instead I can jump to wherever I need to go, set my ship to dock at my destination, go for a pee and BAM! my ship's here. That 30 minutes' travel just got cut down to 3 minutes waiting and gave me an extra 27 minutes to play the game. The main thing I hated about Elite: Dangerous was the fact that 99.99999% of the time you're just staring at the supercruise mode and not actually *doing* anything (as in it was completely hands-free, E:D was very much "sit and wait" rather than "play the game").

You should really need to do something in order to start the research off, like collect 10 broken singularity engines and 10 flux capacitors, then more and more pieces for the next levels, with the final upgrade requiring 100 burnite crystals or something so you *really* have to work for it and give up a huge chunk of potential cash. I'd also be happy to replace it with the energy cell-eating X3 jumpdrive.
It’s cool. I use it when I need to hit a station. I’d prefer a personal jump drive instead though

I'm also one for liking the old teleportation/jump drive system from X3. Personally I try not to use it at all as it just feels, like im cheating myself.
Sure I will use it in stations/my L class and to ships beside me in space.
But teleporting to ships in other systems/other side of the galaxy avoid it when can (first time was today to see why my ship was 'behing hit', apparently a station jumped infront of the pilot :steamfacepalm: )

+!

But you're not teleporting the ship, just yourself. Just let's you take control of battles as they happen rather than leaving it to an unreliable AI.

It's not like you're teleporting 10000 ore across the map.

Less enforced breaks due to travel and no balance issues. I like it personally.

Teleportation ruins the immersion kinda, click on map, go to a cluster of stations, teleport to a group of stations, find station building quest repeat. Not using it is not the point.

The part about elite dangerous is 1000% true. I absolutely love that game but you spend 99% of your time not playing. For that reason, it’s a game I always WANT to play. But when I turn it on and realize again how long it will take me just to get to the activity I wanted to do ... I turn it off and move on.

Combine the combat and gameplay of Elite with the long term play value of X4 and you would have an absolute dream game.

I also was quite surprised at the ease of which you get teleportation, but I wouldn’t make it THAT hard to get. That would feel like an elite dangerous cash grind, as you describe it. I would rather block each rank behind an increasingly difficult but unique quest.

Gotta go get a trader to drop (whatever science sounding) item, then carry it back to base while some number of Split baddies try to get it back. Do you race back? Kill the lot and board their ships? Hide in a station while they patrol, then run when they fly out past the station?

They can make it fun to earn without ANOTHER money grind.
