Drone Components I assume you mean??
And smart chips, I think.
If you open the Logical view there should be a spot for drones which will details what’s needed for them.
Select drones on the logical view and you can tell it how many of each type you want and if they should restock themselves.
No kidding, that's what I've already done if you bothered to read the original post. I have a number set for what I want them to acquire and they buy up to a much smaller number and then just stop acquiring.
I don't see anything in the logical view for drones except where I can choose a number and tell it to restock, so not sure what you're referring to.
Unfortunately I'm not home at the moment and can't check first hand, so I'm going off memory from several days ago.
Maybe it's in the station's trade menu, right-click > trade offers. Somewhere though, you can find a listing of the wares it needs to build the drones you ordered. Unless you're building drone components and smartchips they should stand out as things that the station isn't making or usually using.
Interesting, it does indeed seem to be Drone Components and Smart Chips.
I think the pricing on them works the same way the AI pricing does on everything else and since they started with a larger number and now their "demand" has dropped as they get closer to filling their quota the amount being offered has fallen, meaning there are better deals elsewhere.
As I said before, I'm not home and can't actively test this. So I'm trying to reason it out based on what I know of the rest of the game.
That's not a bad thought, I'll investigate it, thanks!
It starts going up and then resets back to zero.
Every f'n time.
No indication of anything being wrong, and the station is over-funded.
This only happens to me when I'm having issues with a manager not being on the station.
Best solution for your own stations is to manually fulfill the trade orders. Preferably fulfill them the instant you set the standing drone amounts to prevent auto traders from reserving the trades. This is even in your best interest since you can source the required drone components and smart chips cheaply.
As for building materials it's drone components and smart chips, 100%. Manually deliever these 2 to your station (via transfer wares) and it should start building the drones.
If not i'd guess it's some othe issue.
As for the stations buying the materials by themselves, hasn't happened once for me in 100+ hours and 3 stations
I ended up needing to follow the following directions to solve the issue (thanks to reddit user /u/effep for coming up with the directions)
You can DELETE the manager from a station by editing the save file.
It is not very difficult.
Steps:
- Go in-game and find the ID number of your station. Every in-game ship/station has a 6-digit ID number, EG: XSS-089
- Open your save file in notepad++ or any good text editor.
- NOTE: If you are using compressed save files (*.xml.gz) then you need a tool like 7zip to unzip it first, and open the raw *.xml file.
- NOTE: These files are huge, IE 200mb+ easily, so it will take quite a few minutes to open in a text editor. Let it load. It can easily take over 5 minutes.
- Search for your station ID number in the text editor.
- There should be a line stating your station ID number as a "component" or "collection" object in XML (sorry I am at the office and I forgot what it is called exactly). Ignore searches that show up event logs or any other items in your save file. Keep searching until you find the actual station code structure in the save file.
- Very close to the top of the station code structure there will be a bracket of code that is labeled "<control>", IE:
- <control> ... </control>
- The code inside the <control> block will be the skills/stats of your station manager. (You can edit their skills here easily, for future reference...)
- There will be an ID number of the station manager. It will look like: [0x2cf730] (this is just an example). Write this number down.
- Delete the entire <control> ... </control> block of code. This will delete your station manager. You will now be able to assign a new one.
- Search for the NPC ID that you wrote down above, EG: [0x2cf730] and delete any blocks of code with that in it. THIS STEP IS OPTIONAL, BUT IT JUST CLEANS UP YOUR SAVE FILE.
AFTER THAT! Boom, I was finally able to properly assign a station manager.
Unfortunately the station manager is lvl 3 manager skill, which is apparently bugged and won't hire any drones.
The good news is I can set the number of drones now. No drones, but hey, progress.
