Can’t build a docking pier
Working on a station build but it won’t let me build a pier. It fits within the build area. I can snap it in place but it won’t stay there. Everything else attaches just fine. Just not the docking pier. Is there some rule about what it can attach to or something? Completely stumped.

Thanks in advance. I’m sure this is a noob question. But I’m a noob so.......

It all depends on the type of the pier (mainly T or E) for T (that most starts give you the station area must be 3x3x3x3x3x3 (three in all directions plus and minus), also there must be space above and below the pier "forks" for the ships to approach.
In the case of the PHQ you must get below (or above) the main building about 8 or 10 vertical extensions to avoid the asteroid.
I usually use the Teladi Large Container Storage and the Solid and Liquid ones so that space will not be wasted, the Split ones will do too
It is best to turn the station vertical on your building view. It will give you more "altitude" control which is usually the problem.

please provide a screen just before the pier vanishes.

but on first guess... the pier on its own seems to overlap with the buildbox.

you can trick the box however, if you attach the pier to a cross or base connector and use that as a link it shoud stay in place as long as the connector is not overlaping the box.

It’s on the station you get after the “The Experiment” mission. There is an asteroid in the middle of that station so is that the PHQ you’re talking about? Maybe I need to put more vertical sections on prior to adding the pier?

I will try and take a screenshot when I get back to my computer. Might be tomorrow before I can play again though.
