warehouse station and mining
Hello@ll

so i have atm 2 M Transports ( Merkurs ) and 4 M Miners. And some S Ships.
Now i want build a little Warehouse Station ( where my Miners store their Ressources and where my Transports take it and sell it to the Argons )

So maybe you Guys can help me :).

1: how can i hire a Builder from the Argons? ( because buy one will be to expensive )
2: Which will be a good Setup for a simple Warehouse Station? ( which Modules will i need or are a "must have" ) ( want store some S Ships and my Ressources ).
3: How can i give my Transports the Order that they take the Ressources and sell it to Argons?

I would say first decide what goods you wish to manufacture. I would recommend hull parts and Claytronics are always in demand. Therefore you will need blueprints from the faction representative.

Then buy a plot in your chosen area or I would recommend using the player HQ. Once you have done the design select hire builder in the plan build screen on the right, zoom out and you should see a list of available builders for hire.

Once the station is built you must assign a manager, assign your M class transports to the station and they will auto buy/sell products.

1] find a Constructor ship and hire it when you assign a Builder to your new station

2] At a guess an 3 way XL dock plus large storage for the wares

3] no idea

Min: My Plan was that i farm only the Ressources and sell them - and that the other Faction ( Argon ) buy and use them to create some stuff ( like Engines or so ).

Thx Min and mmmcheesywaffles :)

btw Storage : dock the Miners on the Storage? ( to place/unload the Ressources in the Storage? ). Or dock they like a "normal" Transport or so - on the Dock?

Hi. Whats not being said is that it is currently impossible to do what your after. We cannot openly sell ore, silicon, ice from a station.

Warehouses are not officially in the game. Though some simple scripting mods make it possible to an extent.

Your best bet is to look at what's in high demand, then begin making the factor complex to supply this. The system's around and including the player HQ is rich, however building along the highway give better access and transit times.

That said, your miners can be set to sell to who ever needs what they're mining. Just be careful as they will travel to the closest deposit after the first sale. Which usually has crappy yields.

As long as your station has a matching dock ( piers for L - XL ) you will tell them to transfer cargo if unloading at your station. Or sell at a faction station. Keep in mind if it's a warehouse you will need to tell them to do this every time they fill up.

Best bet: Start placing satellite around jump gates and some of the wharfs and shipyards. This will give you a remote opportunity to find your builders when it comes time to hire one (they're going to cost you 50k-100k to hire)
Then you want to build your station with docking facility and solid storage (not container storage) then you will manually place a buy order for the materials you want the station to collect (I.E. a buy order for Ore) and set it to restrict other factions... This way the station won't buy ore from other people.
Once that is done: tell your miners to 'mining for' station - Do not tell your miners to mine for the station before it is actually ready to receive the goods or they will change to defend and likely get killed.
Once there is 'something' in the solid storage for the station then tell your haulers 'trading for' station. - Again don't do this before there is something to trade or they change to defend. - EDIT: - Again: manually setting sell orders.

I don't know if this still works, but this was the way in the past. Until you're making refined metal and silicon wafers it's the best way to short jump your miners and let haulers do their thing. Manually setting buy / sell on the station and controlling volumes can make even a rock storage facility profitable. Just make sure you restrict individual storages and not the whole station... This is important.
