In my game Xenon took two split sectors, however the split regrouped and have taken one back without my intervention. HOP drove Xenon out of one of their own sectors but didnt take it themselves while Paranid God realm took one of HOP's sectors.
You can either let the war play out and see who wins, or you can join in. It's pretty trivial to de-tooth a K with even a S grade ship. I's are harder but if you focus on taking out the guns that are shooting at friendlies, they will make short work of an I.
If there's no friendlies about, just blow out all the modules anyway and leave it there. Security is on the way any time a station gets attacked, but they might be 4-5 sectors away.
*edit*
I do kinda wish Xenon had more ship variety though. there's little things and then P, K, I and that's it for bad guys.
It has 17 large turrets while most destroyers have 4 - 6. It took couple of minutes for it to destroy defense platform of any race.
So single Xenon I spawns from Xenon sector and destroys whole fleets of destroyers, clean sectors from all stations and moves to next sector!
The only tactics against Xenon I is long-range weapon and fast ship (Split destroyer). You need to keep distance over 6 km and continuously shoot on it to prevent shields from re-charge. AI is not smart to keep distance so whole fleets that other races throws on Xenon I are dying fast.
At the time I have passed HQ mission and got my first destroyer - Xenons already destroyed half of the Galaxy. Including HAT sector where trade station with quest NPC was located.
I had to modify save file to copy the station from another save. Because starting game again after 300 hours is not an option!
And then I will have to use my ultimate weapon of mass-destruction!
Save files are just XML - and I will wipe out from my save file all tags having attribute owner="xenon". This will destroy all the xenon ships, stations, shipyards.
The most interesting question: will Xenon fleets spawn after this? I suspect Xenon ships are not constructed from resources as ships of other races - they are just generated from nowhere by script!
Xenon are not generated from nowhere by script, they do require resources. However, their economy is much more simple. All they need is raw ore, raw silicon, and energy cells in order to build their ships and stations. None of these multitude of intermediate wares that the factions use. But kill their miners, and they will suffer from lack of resources to build their ships.
Your statement is true, and my observation is prove.
True Example:
Situational Stats: - In the game i spoke about in this tthread.
........................... - Newly purchased Nemesis, to say good buy to my Starter ship.
........................... - I never shot at Xenon before, got peed of with the Xenon wiping
........................... the telladi from the face of the map, including Tel HQ (only Min stil existed)
........................... Paranid where i was grinding for rep, on the way to be wiped out
........................... ONLY hord clusters of N+M's were pathing the way for K's and I´s.
........................... only N+M´s and nearly NO P's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
........................... - had numerious Pegasus Recon (with setting on "flee", should one tank one ........................... shot) to "weave" between Xenon fleets in anexed sectors, to provide me of
........................... visual "info" on Xenon active fleets. (a Pegasus is to"nimble" to die, only ........................... craft that always stays alive between Xenon, all 2 stars :D
........................... They told me, ONLY N+M's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rarely P's
PROOF:
Note, this was the FIRST time i shot at Xenon, getting the Nemesis for the job (when i could EVENTUALLY AFFORD it)
Situation in Sector of action: Sector where Sector Faction AI is being "wiped" by 2 clusters of N+M's, to prepare the way for the K's and I´s, to come. (NO P´s there)
One cluster of about 20 N+M in middle of sector at highway doing their busness Only there.
Second cluster of about 6 N+M´s at gate doing their busness to eliminate those trying to suply stations behind gate.
So my obvious choise is to eliminate those at gate first. only about 6 of them.
THIS IS WHAT HAPENED NEXT after i shot down the 6 at gate.
The GAME SAW: 1) That I intervened with success!
2) That i successfully eliminated a cluster of enemy Xenon at "this stage of game" (important!)
SO.....THE Xenon N+M's in midle of sektor ALL METAMORPHED TO P's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and not only that, but ALL N+M's IN GALAXY WAS DESPAWNED AND SPAWNED AS P´S!!!!!
Thats what the visuals of my numerious fleet of Pegasus's visually informed me!!!!!!!!!!!!
Xenon spawns. I wish i had the type of video card to have the abillity to record that game,
to UTube that video, so that no one could argue against my factual report.
Now i Ask WHY????
This next point is only my opinion. and i could terribly be wrong :)
1) The Xenon in game is supposed to whipe the map.
The intensity of that "whipe" is detetermined by (a) the roll of the dice (b) your gameplay decisions and the intensity there-of.
2) The Factions rebuild themselves anew. And you can partake in that peacefully.
But take note: the Xenons has not despawned. They have moved their fleets to the far
outskirts of each Sector (2K´s+1I average), observing your peacefull existence of preparing
yourself :) :) :)
Edit: I am writing this, because this knowledge would save you from having to start
a real life 200 wasted hours again, frustrated. Like me. Thats why i started with my
new Telladi start, "fleeing" at gamestar, to a "peacefull area" during gamestart.
One rule has persisted through the whole of X-series, and that is the "OOS" rule :)
Edit: i hope i am right, because that would eliminate frustration and garanty only fun :)
also, in the hope of eliminating some "posts" that always pops up, but i understand that
most do not feel like reading a wall of text i am bombarding you with :D
Split ships has always been my favorite. its the vavorite of activists :)
But they are to far north, and on my new playthrough i do not want to see Xenon for a while.
Ospries are like rocks, the can not move, catch all bullets fired at them, butt they have
double the shields and hull of other M´s. And they have high recharge rates for plasma :)
tHey most probably are too slow to use for trooper craft. But i must try it, or better, i must still go and see how many the Gorgon can carry. The Cerb dy's to quick and the i have lost its troops.
The Gorgon has Speed on its side. Dont know. Still have lots to try out. Am going to include
osprey in fleet though to bring shields down from a distance (plasma).
if including them in my strategy fails, i must at least test and try it, before they get dropped
out of my picture. After all...options are still very limited. Have to try them all
Thanx for another tip
I alway try to make budies though with the SCA, for there must be a way that i can stop
them from hacking my stations so that every two hours half of resourses and goods of
my station is floating around in the verse. Cause that makes me doubt that having a
production station is usefull, but its actually just worthless and a pain in the neck, cause of
resourses ending up floating in the verse. Then there is no reason for me to bother
building a station anymore.
Your tip is the next on my list though :)
From what I read (yes I read the whole thing as it was interesting to say the least an a good read as well)
I really do not see a way where you could recover to a trading exsistance with what is left of the fractions available.
Perhaps "the young gun" story will be much better or some trader story...
I would do a restart if it was me.
The Xenons are very aggressive and powerful since the update...
I don't know if its possible to actually make SCA openly hostile, so that your units will automatically attack them. Unlike X3 you can't arbitrarily mark a race as hostile/friendly to force them to show up red or blue.
I guess you could build your station in a high military traffic zone like the border between Argon and HOP, and let the Argon/HOP fighters kill them.
The young guns is an eysy start.
But for now i am a lizzard...a Telladi.
So i made a restart, and move directly to grand exchange. Going to avoid right side of map,
thats why i want to complere the HQ quests as soon as possible, so the right side does
not see me again. Never. Untill i have prepared myself for taktical warfare implimentation
I mean, i really enjoy a challenging game, but not as doomsday crushing where you
are a living dead, like the game i just abandoned.
But if you are an old X player, there are ways to get around things, because gameplay
reacts to your actions and choices. and i will keep that in mind in this playthrough :)
The hostile/friendly setting was part of the game in X3. Can one do this in X4 too?
i only know of the "blacklist" option for trading
(never was important for me to know how that function works, as the 3 star option
is as scarse as "chicken teeth" in Vanilla, and only a far away promise of a dream
I wish you successl
and i wish you "profffiiitsss" :)
