Its also very easy to find and all it takes is 1 trip araund the world and over 1 gate. I wont spoil the
location tho.
OR...
You can kill some xenons and build seta --- then run it over 1 day. But then you gona lose a lot of trade money.
the whole thing wouldn't be a problem if I could just make some stuff myself but it's not possible because I can't build any factories without any energy cells that apparently just don't exist ANYWHERE for me. I don't know why but they just DON'T exist.
Energy cells are produced by each race, you'll find a station that sells them within 2-3 sectors around you wherever you are.
Also, use the trade filter, select the resource you need and zoom the map out. Chances are, you have already encountered a station that sells what you need.
Egosoft, in their infinite wisdom, incorporated as system whereby if the shipyard cannot build the ship at the #1 position of the queue, it will bump up other ships ahead in the queue which can be constructed using the available resources. The consequences of this are, that cheap ships get built without much difficulty, while ships that take a ton of resources could take almost forever to get built.
So if you want your ship to be built, order it at the very lowest preset possible. Then, after it is built, send it to an equipment dock and get it outfitted with what you want. The equipment docks, as they are not mass producing ships, do not burn through resources nearly as fast as the shipyards, so are much more likely to have what you need to upgrade your ships, even though the shipyards may be starved for resources.
To have an energy cell shortage seems kind of odd, I've never noticed it. They are an extremely common ware, and require no resources other than time to produce. I would say if you cannot find energy cells yourself, then you have not adequately explored the galaxy. They are everywhere.
The economy is "live", where things do not just appear they have to be produced and transported and then used to produce other things, always at a price. Each ship and station does what it "sees as best". See "Cellular Automata", this design does strange things and even the devs might not always know how.
That means that all games are a bit different, and buying and selling is not as easy as in other games. But it also means the game is a lot more eventful... 8-)
As they say, explore around a bit. Even if you don't find it, by the time you finish it might have fixed it's self.
