How big do you make a hull parts factory?
I might have 'over built' my new business, 'Hull Parts R Us', but I'm not sure. How big are your factories?

My business plan includes sending 'Team Torpedo' (1x Behemoth & 50x torpedo bombers) to pay the competition a visit. You know, to have a chat about them 'blowing up' and moving on.

In all of the sectors with both a Shipyard and a Wharf I have built a 'Hull Parts R Us' retail outlet.

Each has;
8x Hull Parts
3x Ref Metal
3x Graphine
5x Med Habitat
2x Large Container
1x Large Solid
1x Large Liquid
2x Energy Cell
*I stole/found every blueprint required using EMP bombs

This is fed by;
3x Plutus Gas miners
3x Plutus Mineral miners

Home delivery vans;
9x Mercury Sentinel


Is this considered a 'small franchise' or a 'global brand'?

I think a single station with that many hull parts modules that can actually sustain its production comes close to the total NPC production in the game all by itself, so that's more like global brand.

I only make one station, designed to produce ships strictly out of its own resources without having to ship things in from other stations. Then I tuck it out of the way where I'll rarely have to go in-sector with it, because it always turns into a beast for my system (why other players spread smaller stations around, I know, but I don't like to try to manage fleets of freighters.) Then I choose who to build ships for to play around with the balance of power.

That's about right...lol. I have 3 HP with 5 engine parts and I can't keep a single S/M Fab busy. I don't think you can produce to much.. what your warf/shipyard doesn't use can be sold. I'd love to have the to much mats problem, haven't seen that yet though... just about to add 2 more of each.

I'd look into adding Missile components/Smartchips to arm team torpedo.

I've decided to diversify the business. We are now trading as 'Sector Ship Parts'.

One other thing, I'd look into getting a Carrier. It will allow you to transport, repair and rearm team torpedo. Also 50 torpedo ships is a bit much and a PITA to maintain. The only time I've been able to get auto-rearm to work is when they've completely shot all torpedoes. I tend to always want them fully armed and manually arming 50 would be a pain. A Carrier like the Zeus for example can only store enough mats to arm about 10 with 22 Torps each and the Zeus had more cargo space than most if I recall correctly which is why I chose it prior to the Split DLC. Not sure what the Raptor offers, I have a feeling cargo space will not be it's strength for balance.

Bought 3x Colossus Sentinels. Loaded with 90x 'Gloster Gladiators' (basic Nova - pulse) and 60x 'Fairey Swordfish' (basic Discoverer - plasma/torps).

Donated the whole lot to a bunch of "Spaceweed smoking Xenon lovers". Said something about creating a 'Xenon sanctuary'.

They plan to wipe out the HOP & ARG fleets guarding the gates at Faulty Logic & Frontier Edge.

It's for 'charity' - so I threw in a bunch of destroyers too... least I could do.
