Ii also had no luck at getting the Elite Sentinels with only a single Dumbfire Cluster missile setup (poor mans alternative) to work. They are set in loadout and neither setting the primary or secondary or both as active will work. Same behavior they fly towards the target and then start spinning :(.
Apparently the AI's not smart enough for Dumbfires...lol
M size ships make bad torpedo ships. Small fast ships make better ones since they are harder for the ai to hit. M ships seem better against s and m size ships and helping destroy larger ships that have their turrets blown up.
AI Corvettes kinda suck IMHO, can't use them near friendlies thanks to turrets. I use them for couriers, new station destruction and escort for fighters needing repairs and an exit from engagement.
For sheer destruction of S/M I micro manage a wing of 20 fighters to single pass kill every P and then set them to attack remaining fighters with the general attack all in range order. Zero loss tactic and makes for a great show to watch with boom after boom in quick succession. Fire & smoke highly recommended.
[Beta 3] Fixed ships armed only with missile launchers sometimes not firing when attacking capital ships or stations.
Personally use missile fighters and have them guided against capital ships and unguided toward stations.
I personally use torpedo fighters because torpedo takes awhile to reach it target and since fighter torpedo launch at a shorter distance they tend to hit the target faster.
it's something that has never been possible since X3
Check and make sure that the Torpedo's are Loaded because they are not by default. and make sure they are selected as Primary Fire with any other weapon/systems because they default to Secondary Fire and the AI doesn't use Secondary appropriately.
