Argon - Eclipse - 4 guns - durable - 2 shields
Paranid - Ares - 4 guns - durable - 3 shields
ALI - Nodan - fast - durable - 2 guns - excellent tanky scout ship
M ships varies but two of people most favorite:
Paranid - Nemesis - fast, durable, 5 guns and 2 turrets. (can stand and shoot)
Split - Dragon - very fast, made of paper, 6 guns and 2 turrets. (has to do hit and run)
Me personally
Argon - Cerberus - Very Durable - 1 hanger for a small ship - 2 guns and 2 turrets.
I love my Cerberus as it can hold my favorite S ship to go.
Also for your information when you make the HQ plot, at the mission where you the boron to flee you get a free cerberus.
Yep, income is important. I'd hold off on buying M warships, there's a lot you need to do that's best done in a fast highly maneuverable ship... discovery, scanning stations, easy missions. Some missions, storylnes may actually help with ships...no need to buy. Meanwhile you need to build income & rep so you can buy or otherwise (acquire) more ships and start station production.
Argon wharf won't be able to build many ships due to there being a scarcity of parts... this is where you come in ;)
After that, either by using the funds the quest gives you and/or crystal mining for a couple of hours, in order to help out the Argon Wharf with its hull parts/ engine parts deficit, I start out buying a couple of couriers to buy the parts in Hatikvah's Choice and trade them to the wharf.
You may come across some abandoned ships in your exploration and that's where I usually get myself a free M Cerberus. This will be what I use to get around, explore and fight most of the early game, but I prefer a Nemesis ;)
As I make more money, I'll buy a couple of M transporters to increase the supply.
Soon, the wharf will be able to build ships at a decent pace and I can then order some miners and even more transporters. These ships will bring in an increasingly bigger and steady income which will be the basis for my station building work.
My aim will be to build my own wharf and shipyards and once I start producing my own ships, then I'll really be making BIG money!
Like Antigone has a guild you can join that offer trade/fight mission. The rewards for those mission can be amazing like a modified ship for something as easy as trade this much goods then set this satellite near this gate.
Those modified ships and stuff can be worth millions
My favorite Tips, or things you may not know.
I have posted some tips here and there but these are my favorite of things to help new players and even some things more experienced players may not know.
1. Don't use your Left Click to move the map around to view, use the W, A,S, D, keys.
2. Long Range sensors ( Shift F3 ) after you enable it you MUST hit the L key to use it properly, hold for a sec or two and release. If you hold too long or too short it will not function properly.
3. Never get up from the cockpit while in Auto Pilot nor take control of a ship with Orders. It may cause issues if you do.
4. When mining crystals or just any ware floating in space use the O key to beam it in, again too long or too short will not function properly, and if you didn't get it all the first attempt hit it again. This will prevent you from running inside an asteroid while mining crystals.
5. Try using the camera mode to look around space while the captain is running the ship. F2 gives you the view of the ship you are in, hit twice and you can use the Number Pad and the + and - keys to look around or zoom in or out.
F3 allows you to look at another ship you have targeted and you can do the same functions as F2 with the number keys. Looking outside give a great view of gates or stations while you are running around, or admiring your fleet. While in the camera mode it may cause pilots not to reach you properly if they com you. F1 returns you to the normal view.
6. Look at your Property menu and check to see if you have ships with an hourglass, that were supposed to be doing something. This will help you find ships that are stuck or collecting dust and Waiting for Signal so they can carry out their orders.
7. Where to mine and what is available without Probes. Simple select the miner and right click a sector check the mine option and if there are any known resources in that sector it will tell you. I would set up miners to mine with Default Behavior after you know you can obtain and sell the wares in the same sector easily.
8. There is no right or wrong way to play, focus on what you enjoy, and learn to protect your assets. Several ways to play X4 you do not have to do the things everyone else does, Just Learn and expand and enjoy.
thats was just what i needed lol
