To help with the above, recommend a combat engine for fast windup to travel mode. Do not approach a gate that you cannot enter directly while in travel mode. Rather approach with the gate towards your left/right view. When you are close enough you can do two things:
a. disable travel mode, then steer quickly to face the gate, if you are sure you can enter the
gate directly (it does not have to be a full circle of the gate) re-engage travel mode. Make
slight adjustments to compensate for drift if needed.
b. stay in travel mode disable flight assist and steer quickly to face the gate and ensure you
can enter directly, then re-engage flight assist. For this one you have to be quick and start it
earlier than method a. This can be done with a travel drive instead of combat drive.
2. Try to avoid using any Highway.
When you enter a system that contains the destination point, you should have enough time to steer the ship to point directly at the destination. Use your map for this. Ignore the auto guidance that takes you through a highway.
You can use one of the 1a or 1b methods to steer into the destination point quickly.
Oh and of course wouldn't be X4 if the paranid shipyard didn't have enough engine parts....
More than likely because you got a easy to run route. Like"mikemonger" stated right above your post.
So build a factory! That's a economy exploit for you!
