Split Fighters best weapon?
Gatling, accelerator or disintegrator? For mostly protection and not necessarily best for boarding. What do you like and why?

First off Split weapons are short range. Your looking at 2.1 on the accelerator, 2.6 on the disintegrator, 2.7 on the gattling. vs 3 on the regular gattling. and 3.1 on the pulse laser.

Next up. weapons ammo speed is important for a fighter, since your going to be shooting fast moving objects with them. Pulse laser is 4,147, Accelerator is 3,110. bolt repeater is 2,400, Gatting is 2,160. Thermal is 1,728.

Then you have rate of fire. Gatting 23, Repeating 6.67, Disruptor 6.57, Accelerator 3.5, Pulse laser 3.33

and finally damage. Accelerator 524, Gattling 276, Repeater 212, Decentigrator 183, Pulse 156,.

a thing to note with the disintegrator When shooting shields it does 118 shield damage and 65 hull damage until the shields are destroyed and then it does 183 hull damage. the accelerator is like a shotgun. so that 524 damage is assuming all shells hit.

As far as which weapon. Well I feel the accelerator and disintegrator are gimmick weapons. so I take those strait off the list. Which leaves the Gattling as the best split fighter weapon. However if your dog fighting. I feel the the normal MK2 Pulse laser takes the lead with its faster rate round velocity. Your going to get more shots on target then you are with the gatlling resulting in more overall damage.

Thanks again Ruges i just got 5 each of Splts S and M fighters to play with to try them out their M is nice with the 6 guns and 2 turrets. I really like the look of the Split ships in general. and have my rep to 19 with the FRF looking forward to some capitals

Yea that Dragon is pretty nice. Even thow it is a medium ship I think it is the best fighter there is. All of my larger ships that have M sized bays, get one of these set to defense. And the nice thing about them is they are so fast. that when it comes time to recall them, they are right there fast.

I think the answer depends on your fighting style and tactics, I don't see any weapons as gimmicks. If you engage in a linear run from standoff then boost away and turn and repeat, then the Gatling may be the best, and a fast ship with decent shields. If like myself, you do rolls and turns to get super close to the enemy (and in their blind spot if possible), then the accelerator is nearly perfect, since all pellets are hitting. Likewise ship choice-- I do lots of aerial acrobatics to keep their wing-men from locking me, so I don't care about absolute speed so much but staying inside their turning circle and having good strafe is critical. I would think that there are probably styles that are best suited to all weapon and ship types.

My favorite is the Shard gun or Tau Accelerator . It's a close range weapon, terrible for AI but awesome in the players hands. It allows you to remove P's in 4-5 shots with the Dragon Raider.

The Disintegrators main roll is in capping ships. It allows you to detstroy turrets and shield generators without having to drop the shields. It also can cause pilots to eject quicker.
