Hope that helps.
In X3 you can send out your fighter squadrons or move around your entire fleets of warships in 1-2 button presses.
In X4 you have to use the crappy wannabe RTS Map and it's not very accurate object list beside it. And it sucks. It wastes MUCH more time than is necessary compared to hotkeys, and I have difficulty actually giving orders correctly since the object list I find doesn't update every ship accurately into it's list (Seems based on your local ship's radar and not full radar of satellites and other ships), it's difficult to click on the tiny UI icons for ships in the map when they are moving (especially if it's a smaller ship and thus moving faster), as well as it's hard to give orders when ships are stacking up on each other. Eventually you can have dog piles so large that even on the lowest zoom it's just a cluster cluck of icons and clicking on one always accidentally forces you to click on the wrong one.
Just give me the damn hotkeys back and at least then I can pretend to ignore the really flawed map system.
