Friend or Foe - Confused!!!
I've got a good relationship with the Teladi Company (+11), but I occasionally get attacked by Marauder (and Other) Teladi Company ships. I get they are probably pirates; but their faction is listed as Teladi Company... so am I getting dinged when I defend (or attack) these ships???

On a different... though similar note: a couple of times I was fighting (defending) against an attack, and I "Think" the attacker reported me to a nearby station. The station responded 'Negative', and as near as I can tell, nothing really occurred; other than my confusion. So... any idea what that's about?

Advanced Thanx for any enlightenment :).

Oh... and just while I may have someone's attention; when this next release drops in a couple of days, will I have to start a new game to get all the new goodies, and fixes and such; or will I be able to just continue with my current play through? Again... Advanced Thanx!!!

"Marauder" indicates that you face Pirates... most likely under false Flag.

To be 100% that you won't take any consequences when you kill them i would recomment to Scan those Ships first.

The Report you mentioned and its rejection by the Station also indicates that this particullar Ship has a very low Reputation to the Station in question... it is most likely an Enemy to the Owner Faction.

To the last Question:

It is not neccesary to Start anew when you want to benefit from the Changes, though it is needed when you want to benefit from them in an Instant.

Older Saves will most likely be compatible but due to the nature of Patches it can take a while for any Changes to show notable effect.

Yep, you had an encounter with either the Scale Plate Pact or the Free League. They are a good source of early game fighters, btw. Occasionally they'll fly around in corvettes and gunships, too. Just watch for anything that is labeled (faction tag) raider/marauder. The tag often does not correspond with the ship origin, so be especially aware of (what I tend to see the most) Teladi supposedly piloting Argon ships or Paranid flying either Argon or Teladi ships.

If you are in Argon or Paranid space, when you scan them and they come up as SCA they will get attacked by sector security (if they are around). The Teladi won't back you up, so be aware.

Thank You both for the response: I gotta admit... That's pretty cool - and a bit more authentic than pirates running around like the days of old with their Jolly Roger flying proudly amid the enemy!!!

Though one additional question: Scanning them; is this simply using Shft+2 for Scanning Mode; or is there something more specific I need to do????

As to the second question; Once more; Thank You; Crossed Fingers I can live with the changes coming slowly, as I like the flow of my current game; Slow... but moving forward :).

You have to active scan the ship.
Activate scan mode get into 1km range either right-click scan the target while inside 1km or use the hotkey instead and stay in range.

Shift 2 to enter scan mode. Shift F to engage the scan. A LOT easier than trying to hit the menu button.

I tried the SHIFT+F but it didn't work for me. I looked in keybindings and couldn't find an option to set anything for SCAN. Am I missing something or not seeing it in settings?

LOL -- I had the same issue, but figured I just wasn't doing something right, and just let the matter go, since I wasn't being dinged for the fight.

but... +1 On this :).

OK, thanks. Does anyone know if they added this in settings for 3.0?

be aware you cannot scan if you are targeting a component, you have to be in scan mode (shift 2), targeting the ship (not turret etc) and within 1km, and you need to put your target in the centre of the scanning circle till its finished :) (using 3 beta)

Yes.

Settings:
Control: General
Menu Access
Scan Object

Unders Menu Access I have the following: Open Quick Action Menu; Map; Mission; Property Owned; Player Information; Current ship Info; Help; interaction Menu; Object info; Object Comm; and Target Object in Map.

I'll map Object Info and try that in scan mode; but it's the closest thing I have to Scan Object.

Some People test the public beta for months.

chance is high that a few of those have lost perspective of what feature has been added when.
