Antimatter Cells - "This ship cannot transport this ware"

I bought a cheap magpie mineral to do the quest with the antimatter cells. When I try to buy them at the antimatter station it says, "This ship cannot transport this ware."

Why? Could the game be any more vague...How do you know what items can and can't be transported by any kind of ship?

This quest has been nothing but frustration, and I spent nearly half of my early game money for this ship.

You know you bought a miner and not a transporter right?
You have to use a small ship that can carry cargo and it will be destroyed, so why would you waste money on a mining ship?
A simple cheap courier vessel is all you would have needed.

This was the cheapest ship in the wharf where I bought it. Couriers were more expensive. Didn't think there would be some ridiculous requirement like this that the game says nothing about.

Ships marked as (mineral) or (gas) are miners, they have cargo holds built for those wares.

Miners have either a Solid or Liquid hold. You need a ship with a Container hold.

You can find Marauder Raiders in most sectors.. they're SCA pirates and real easy to capture. Scan them to remove the cloak which will make them look like a faction ship and then attack them and drain their shields a few times, com them from time to time to surrender, especially when they start to ask for mercy. The pilot will eventually bail and you can claim the ship with a marine or spacewalk. Your reputation with any faction will not be affected taking an SCA pirate ship... not even SCA. Presto.. you now have a container transport for free. Repair it with the laser or take it to an Equip dock/warf to replace/repair damaged equipment and service crew.
