Fly at high speed at the Target filling the Space with bullets/energy beams/whatever you mounted until you weapons run hot, fly past the target, let weapons cool down, repeat until target is destroyed.
Didnt fly a dragon, so i dont know its behaviour, but i love my little ASP Fighter though.
^^ This exactly. With the right load out, Fighters and even some other M class are usually dead on a single pass.
All Split ships are far superior.... you just need to adapt to their philosophy..... hit fast & hard (even their traders are insane fast).
I hear what you are all saying but I am talking about this ship, not traders. You can not argue that the Dragon beats the Nemesis in any area at all. The Nemesis has the same handling, turret points, double the shields, 4k more hull, and outfit it with Split weapons or drives if that is your thing.
Point is I get the hit and run tactics, but that does not make it a better ship when it has half the shield strength which itself is a massive factor for tactical thinking combat. Shields give you boost and wiggle room, the Dragon has issues with fighter groups that it engages and the Nemesis laughs at them.
I look forward to trying the other ships but yeah, the Dragon has absolutely nothing on the Nemesis but a single extra weapon spot and sacrifices too much for that single weapon.
You got two versions of the Dragon that behave slightly different, try both.
As others mentioned the Dragon is a hit and run ship put Split Engines on it and Paranid Shields for maximum shot and scoot.
The Dragon is to play more like a heavy heavy fighter while the Nemesis is more like a gun boat if you are looking for more staying power maybe the Cobra is your Split ship of choice a mix between gunboat, battle taxi and corvette.
Also take a look at the new weapons those are supposed to be burst damage versions of existing weapons that allow to make use of short attack windows closing the gap between a tank and spank Nemesis and the hit and run Dragon.
- It looks awesome
- It is faster
The extra weapon slot is a nice to have but as Nemesis was already OP in that regard we just get "more OP" by that.
However if you just want them destroyed, 2-3 attacks with dragon will make them go boom. (depends on weapons)
If you put in a heavy loudout in dragon and keep yourself away from 4-5 km when attacking destroyers, you can easy solo them with some strafing while some other ships (even nemessis) will strugle due to low damage output.
Here is a ship comparison (ones that you generaly use-- no1 uses teladi ones):

Best shields/engines and weapon setups that work for solo.
The difference is extreme....
dragon
17.000 hull
674 speed
4.314 boost
40 rockets
dragon marauder
8.000 hull
817 speed
5.232 boost
8 rockets
and the most important difference is the price..... the marauder is as cheap as a heavy fighter (even cheaper as some) but extremly fast and 6 weapon slots + 2 turrets... the real hit&run ship, only the acceleration is slower than a heavy fighter (so turning around in dogfights could be your death ... and the shields recharge very slow compared to heavy fighter)
Marauder?
What's your language setting just curious?
For the English client it is
ZYA that sells the Tanky missile "Dragon"
FRF that sells the even more zippy and equal pew pew "Dragon Raider"
Should you have started as one of the Split one or the other would be a minor time challenge to get access to.
Of course, there is also the option to "persuade" a pilot to abandon its Dragon. ;)
indeed there is.
