Making money as Split

So I am having a lot of fun with 3.0 and SV.
I am playing a split campaign and want to dominate as this race. So no peace with argon and subjugate free families.

But I am having a little bit of a dillema.

I've mined some crystals for early money. Got couple of ships. Set up a PHQ.
But my problem is how to start making real money to create fleet that can take on the enemies of the Split.
Leveling of the sector traders are extremely slow and there are no good pilots anywhere. Same problem with the miners. I started hunting for seminars, but that gets me Teladi rep, while I wanna do split missions.

So the question is - How to approach getting big moneyz and not go down this weird Teladi route?

Sector Automine can be done at zero stars. Find a Split refinery and set up basic autominers in that system, you'll start to make money pretty fast.

I don't get it. Why don't you do Split Missions then, if you want Split reputation?

Because teladi guild rewards 2-star training quite often.

Get a Balaur with Thermal-Desintegrators Mk2 and a Buffalo with 59 marines and start boarding ships. That´s where the big money is.

Yes I was thinking that probably boarding will be the way. Just hope it will go bug free.
