What is this big blue questionmark?

Hi, I have no idea why this popped up on one of my plutus gas sentinel... It was though way off course and was almost full with gas, but the dumbass behind the control panel does not seems to understand the mission I gave: Go out, mine as much as your cargohold can have, then find a seller and sell the stuff. goto start!!!!
But this seems to be difficult on some level in the BETA version without any mods (YES VANILLA!!!!) and in particular the big question mark that is clinging to this miner.
I made a screenshot, but now I cannot find a way to link it.... Gonna try anyway,. ok, it follows...

I think it means your ship has nothing to do, and is getting bored. All my trade ships on my stations are doing nothing and have question marks by them. Probably means no-one nearby has a demand / pilot is too low to look further. I find miners fill demand quickly. Don't know if putting sats out helps to find more deals, or whether you have to move miners to a nearby sector and come back later.

Indeed, saw the giant question mark yesterday for the first time.

What I did that sometimes works is remove all orders, and then re-task the vessel. Then they seem to figure out what to do. But it is annoying, and smacks of forced micromanagement.

If you participate on the 3.0 public beta it's a good idea to check the beta forum and write your findings there - after checking if some people might have reported the same thing already[forum.egosoft.com].

Also, there is already a dev on the case.

That means the ship does not know what to do. You probably a mod that includes new behaviors which was removed, so when you loaded the game again it couldn't find the script.

Thanks all, and reordering them could work.... but @Ion, you apparently did not let sink in my OP, I play this in vanilla, so no mods or whatsoever, that is why I reported it here (as there is no specific place where to report this, so I hope that dev-eyes fall on this if this is a little bug..... those ships have orders, most of them fly in an area that has minerals and/or gasses, but those captains are so dumb to not stay in that place (Still the same sector) and apparently they wake up in the 'morning' and have their coffee, scratch their heads, yawn a few times and ask themselves...."...What was I doing?" and come up with a solution, "Lets call the boss and ask for directions.........." That is what earlier was called, lack of micromanagement...
If we can't depend on giving them orders and let them do their damn job, what can we depend on then?

The Ship is searching for new trades.
As a Dev reply suggested in the beta forums a proper scaled Icon is not yet in the beta build.

So in short the giant "?" is going to be replaced with something smaller soon.

The Proper place to report such finding would be the EGOsoft beta feedback Forums there others like you do have noticed it and reported it.

So feel free and join the rest of the bunch happy testing.

@Alith-Ahnar, thanks for reply... I do hope I won't have to put an echo there, as there are according to you more people aware of this event. I really do hope that they change the priority in searching for sources instead of searching for a job. Meaning: I hope they let the captains of ships become aware that when they are captaining a lets say Ore miner, and they are in a over full (Uber-full) sector with enough asteroids to mine for centuries, that they DO know what they must do and not wander off to that ONE spot where no asteroids are and start me freaking out by yelling "I do not know what to do, help!!!) So, I could change the order and re-order the same, replace the captain, even steer the ship into a cloud of asteroids, but I can't change the way they act when I turn my back on them.....(figuratively)

The more People report the same issue prevered in the same thread the better even present extra information when applicable DXdiag, Save Game, etc. when it makes sense in the context or asked for so don't be shy and post.
