1 Star Pilot trying to get 3 Stars?
Hi guys, I managed to level a 0 Star Pilot to become a 1 Star Pilot.

How I did this? Here is how:

1. I put my level 0 Pilot into a Cerberus Frigate
2. I sent her off to Nopileos' Fortune VI with Claytronics in my Cargo Hold
3. I armed her with Torpedo Launchers and gave her Light Torpedos
4. I stand in my cockpit, not in the pilot seat and let my Pilot do things through the Map
5. Whenever SCA Marauders get encountered, I just order my Pilot to attack through the Map Window
6. Within 1.5 hours my Pilot turned from 0 Star to become 1 Star Pilot

Now I was experimenting with Teleporting away from the Ceberus to my Flagship Nemesis Corvette that was in Black Hole Sun Sector, and then using SETA. My pilot did gain XP to become 1 Star Pilot when I did this.

Now, I have been trying to Out Of Sector command my Cerberus to fight whenever My pilot encounters a Xenon or SCA Marauder ship. I teleport away after a Hostile Encounter is confirmed and use SETA. My Pilot would win the fight, but not gain any XP lately.

So the question is, how do I successfully get a 1 Star Pilot to 2 or even 3 Stars in as short a time as possible?

i do not know a "short time as possible" but i do know how to do it reliable.

and that would be.. just let them do their jobs.

for example i have some kind of training station... it only buys water and sells all its intermediate and end products to the surrounding stations, it also consumes its own end products.
(means it never can run full and never stops production.)

means my green pilots literally never stand still.

i also have some wings with a bait ware that are on patrol in various pirate infested systems and those also gain xp reliable... not as fast as i would want it but still reliable.

I am still learning the game, so what exactly do you mean by making a Training Station?

What modules does the station have and what type of Ships are being used to Train the Pilots?

I notice even Automining some of my Pilots get 1 more star and that is about it for Pilot Skills for a Very Long time (Nearly 80 hours?)

Well, I know I am not totally broke but still I want to know and find ways to get a 2, 3 or even 4 Star Pilot through other techniques rather than buying and selling ships Because some times the Wharf or Shipyard run out of parts and You have to Personally Resupply them yourself... this means pumping in more time and credits.

If you know of any other techniques through using the game system to level pilots efficiently, I would appreciate your input thanks. I read around some other forums and some people argue the leveling system is bugged... so what do you guys think?

Hi thanks for the reply, I was wondering if you could Elaborate as to what a Wing of Pirate Fighting Unit should consist of, Nemesis Corvettes, Novas or Elites or what else would I use...?

Thinks I have questions about:

1. Should I use SETA when they engage the enemy?
2. Do I need a Cerberus Frigate to be the Wing Commander and carry the Bait Cargo?
3. Which sectors are recommended for Pirate Fighting Wings?
4. What are recommended weapon load outs?

Hope you can help me out, I spent 1.5 hours trying to level my 1 Star Pilot through use of SETA and teleportation but nothing happened, so I am a bit concerned about how to level my Pilots.

I currently do not Buy Ships just for the Pilots, Why? Because buying ships uses up the Storage of The Shipyard or Wharf and eventually someone probably the player himself/herself would need to replenish the Shipyard or Wharf with the shortage in Storage... not exactly free and easy method of getting things done as well...
What we really need is headhunting services in the ship construction screen. Either chose from a list of existing applicants or set your skill requirements, pay for service fees and a signing bonus, and wait for new people to respond.

2.0 I think makes it easier to level up to some extent. Basically going from 0 to 1 is easier than from 1 to 2, etc. It raised falloff, whatever that means.

i just use some wings with 5 buzzards and only the wing leader has some scrap in his cargohold.. and only he has the order to engage pirates if they dare to harass him.

relating my training station.. thats just a food plant that makes all its intermediate wares it self and buys water.

food is just consumed everywere (including on that station) and it just keeps freighter pilots busy.. until they have their minimum required stars.

Buzzards, you mean like a Squad of Nova fighters?

I get all my 3* pilots from my mining fleet. Whenever I buy a ship that doesn't have a good enough pilot I just look at the miners and pick one that's now got three or four stars and swap them over.

Mind you, I've been doing business rather than fighting wars so if you need 100 good pilots for a new fleet like right now I'm not sure where you'd get them from.

I got a 2 Star Pilot for Mining that I think is stuck? I think I have him for around 80+ hours Mining Ore and all he got was 2 Star in Management... some sort of bug? I got another level 4 Pilot Autotrading Silicon Wafers for 20-30 Hours, still did not get level 5?

There are 15 levels of each skill. These are divided into 5 stars. The higher level a skill is, the slower it is to progress to the next level.

Yes I understand the levels concept is divided into 1/3 for each star.

How does one achieve 3 stars most efficiently, that is the crux of the matter...? Do we have reliable accounting and statistics to know how much work is needed to get a 1 star pilot to 3 stars?

I think 80+ hours for 2 Management Stars is quite long, so how much longer do I have to wait to get my 2 Star Autominer to level 3 or beyond...?

For me the progression is way to slow... to advance an NPC from 0 stars to 5 stars feels like it would take several years of Real World time. I think also the way the population is all set to 0 1 or 2 stars makes it a painful experience finding skilled crew (you would think there would be at least a few journeyman and a few elites floating about passing on their craft).

I ended up caving in and using a mod from the Nexus, and now a majority of my fleet is staffed by 5 star personnel. It's worth the "modded Save" flag, i wouldn't look back.

Haven't experience this. Only 1 pilot out of 10 have leveled, and she leveled to a 3 star fairly quickly, but I have no idea why. All the other pilots still 0 stars, and have just been doing their jobs......as she did.
