Boarding help pls
So i did some boarding to test a while back and before i did it with a destroyer and a m ship at my disposal and i boarded a allied faktion so it was all good.

Now i wanted to upscale it a bit for fun and created a boarding fleet.
A zeus (coz it has tons of mariens) with some nemesis for auto destroying turrests and some destroyers just to support or if i need some mariens.

I saved first before the boarding and in the end i replayed this savefile 10 times and always the ship i want to enter got destroyed becoz regardless of the order, even if its just stay distant my ships are shooting the boarding target!

so some questions:

1) can you scan ships u are at war with (below -15 rep) to 100%? I did some random scanning on some konstruktion ships from hop and i only got 66% scan result, to be fair i dont even know if u can succesfully board without having 100%

2) is there a trick besides not equipping the boarding fleet with turrets or maybe just with really week turrets to get them not to destroy the target they are suppose to enter? Or do i actually need maybe a enter fleet just 1 des or zeus and a korvett and nothing else is viable?

3) Does boarding without scanning work? I desingned this fleet really versitile with turret breaking ships and strong def ships and just just tried to remote let them enter, however they also there (even tho boarding did start) destroyed the ship!

if the devs would tweek the dmg output in a boarding szenario remote boarding order would be relly nice to use, since regardless of the problem that even personal boarding with a bigger boarding fleet didnt work for me, its still a hassle to do all this work manually for a ship worth a couple million.
I mean i really think the boarding fleet needs to be quipped with a specific weaponary right now, still would need to test different weaponary. If a destroyer or carrier stays like 5 miles away and for some reason they start firering ( i dont know the script, maybe it wants to reduce hull, or get attact by a defense laser turret or wanna destroy ship turrets /engines etc which got rebuild by rep drones) and they start shooting with their main cannon/turrets or what not, it feels like they are fireing 100 times till the impact of the first shot. Then ofc its an overkill since even if they stop shooting after the impact of the first shot, there are still 20 other plasma balls or whatever u call it on the way to the target since they fly really slow

not saying that it wouldnt be a fun part of the game exploring for urself the best setup and weaonary for boarding but it would be nice if the game ai would kinda be better by default since right now it feels like i take 3 M ships and 1 zeus as a entering fleet for best succes, however i would also like a destroyer to do some inital engine destruction since the big ships are often equipped with missiles and a m ship can be easy pray so its dangerouse to work in a M ship in the inicial engagement. Ofc i could send away the Destroyer afer using the Carrier for the boarding command but it feels like unnecesary hassel

You can manually call them off, "stop attacking and hold" something like that, or just recall subordinates. Do this after your marines have landed though, as if you recall the ships before the marines have launched from player owned ships, it will cancel the whole boarding order for all those ships.

That said, this leads to a glitch where you can't see how many marines of you are fighting inside the target ship, but it is in fact working as it should even if the numbers are off.

BUT they have released number of fixes to boarding, in particular in 3.0 Beta 3 that actually picks up the topic of ships continuing to shoot a disabled target, so this will probably be resolved in entirely when it's out of beta.

Edit: Your questions:

Scanning a ship that you intend to board only is really needed to know the number of marines they have, number of turrets, etc. I also gives you a rating of you boarding power vs their defence. You can board any ship without doing this, but you'll be in the dark information wise / using to few/many marines in the attempt.

Also you get options when setting up the boarding attempt, first is turrets, how many of them will get destroyed before marines launch, second the hull status of the ship in question.(if you put the hull strenght at a high lvl(medium+) there is a better chance of not destroying the ship while your fleet shoots at it when waiting for boarding results.

The last stage is your marines that have survived vs the defending crew.

Edit 2: I forgot about the ship orders you can give them during a boarding situation that will probably solve your problem right away, you can tell the ships in your wing to stay back and hold. That way they won't even try to shot at it at all.

y that was the problem even if i gave them the command in the boarding screen to stay away since i wanted to reduce the hull etc myself they still fired, however y the call back order had cancled my boarding maybe i need to figure out how to deploy the mariens earlier or maybe they just did too much dmg to the hull so the mariens still have been on the way

If you pick that order the mouse is hoovering over, "Maintain distance"
They ships in your wing will not shoot at the ship at all..

Set the Boarding plan to Very Strong and they should start right away, maybe try one setting less for each time or so, till you find the best way

y i try sometime again now im frustrated after almost testing 2 h but y i used that command u showed and still they did shoot, i think they might have been attact by some def systems and shoot back no idea

Last resort would just fly all your ships away with "fly to" order, so they aren't near at all and they wait till you call them back.
