Station modules long build times
Hi everyone,

I'm trying to build a massive station in the game at the moment (basically one of every kind of production module). Previously, I had been playing on the beta patch 3.0, but started a new save on 2.6 due to some bugs. On 3.0, station modules varied, but I don't think many of them took over 20-30 minutes each to build. Currently, on 2.6, all station modules seem to double in time at least, many taking an hour to build. When I watch a new module starting to be built after the last one, it starts at a reasonable required time (15 mins) and then jumps up to a much higher time after a few moments (45 mins). I'm using a hired builder ship as I usually do.

I was wondering if anyone else had encountered this, whether it's a bug or some error on my part, and possibly how to fix it. I'm using a few mods but none of them should affect this: AdvancedSatelliteRange, Flybylooting, LearningAllTheThings, SectorSatellites/Configuration, Signal_Leak_Hunter, TaterTrade. Thanks all.

What's changed is that plenty of AI constructors now have less than that amount of drones. Perhaps to give the player a reason to buy their own constructors because otherwise they would need to hire literally hundreds of constructors to begin to justify the cost.

It's not a bug.

The build speed for modules depends upon the number of building drones of the constructor.

You want roughly 65+ for a regular build speed. Below that, it can take up to 4x as long.

What's changed is that plenty of AI constructors now have less than that amount of drones. Perhaps to give the player a reason to buy their own constructors because otherwise they would need to hire literally hundreds of constructors to begin to justify the cost.

Ouch, that explains it. Is there any way to fire a builder after they've already started? If not, if I destroy the builder myself, does it destroy the construction materials already supplied to the build storage?

Mods. You can get build times down to 1 minute so you don't die of old age before they finish.

I considered a mod for it. Does it also speed up how quickly factions build stations? I don't want it to get out of control.

In case anyone else comes here wondering:

You can simply kill the builder ship you hired. I only lost 2 reputation with that faction, which is better than waiting an entire month for the station to build. The materials already stored in the build storage will remain there and you can hire another builder or use your own. A new builder ship with a reasonable amount of builder drones solved the module build time issue.

Yes, the mod will also make other factions build station modules quicker.
