Make sure you have visited as many stations that might require the wares and have a Satellite near them. Miners can only sell when their pilot is good enough and they have a market asking for the wares

No, I suggest you look at the Filter available from the menu found top right on your screen.

OK assuming you have only seen a few stations you have a couple of options.

1] Dump the Silicon into a Lockbox and collect it later when you have explored more. Then mine something you CAN sell locally

2] Go exploring for more stations until you find a buyer.

I'd go for option 1 as that is probably faster. In either case look for a buyer for Nvidium and then mine and sell that whilst you can get a buyer.

On top of what cheesywaffles said.. I would recommend buying a cheap little fast ship and filling it with satellites and just explore as many of the sectors as you can as your next move. An investment of a couple of hours of unlocking most of the sectors and putting satellites next to the stations that buy ore/silicon/nvidium will pay off in the long run for your autominer.

Selling ore is very cheap. Silicon is ok money. Nvidium is lots of money. Not sure about ice?

Depending on your game and what you have done some factions might only buy a small amount of ore/silicon if the wars stop. If you set up a miner to mine ore/silicon they might mine the cheaper ore.

Don't mine yourself unless you like doing that. If you're out for profits, buy ships that will do the mining for you while you cruise around the universe planting satellites, building rep, harvesting crystals...

Once you have enough money, zoom around the highway and take all the missions that have you building stations for NPC factions. Those are really easy money once you know how to build stations. You can just throw whatever they say they want into the builder, put the funds in and let an NPC ship build the whole thing for you. You can make millions while still doing other tasks.
