There is no option for repair drones, is there?
Or am I too dump to find it? I looked everywhere.
Why can't we activate and deactivate repair drones?
i thought about the Cargo and Combat Drones...
Sorry, it is not possible or even intended to prevent the launch of the Repair Drones, that would kind of neglect their sole purpose.
Unless someone shoots your Hull with an Explosive they should survive most attacks and should always stay within the influence sphere of your bigger Ships.
The bigger problem is, that they prevent you from using your hyper drive. When you want to gain a bit of distance fast (when an unexpected enemy fleet arrives), you can't flee.
There really should be an option, I suppose it wouldn't be hard to implement if all the functions for the other drones are already there?
And besides that if you manage to activate the travel drive it's because they fell off your ship's "you are moving with me" area. And as soon as you cross a gate they will be considered destroyed.
Or just make the 'recalling subordinates'-command actually work.
I had destroyers get stuck in-system (almost losing them to enemy fire) due to deployed repair-drones, and the command just takes priority over everything else, Very annoying, and costly in certain situations.
And of course those directives should be fully navigable from a HOTAS setup... (say it with me, "no mouse in a cockpit")
As someone who spends most of their time in Destroyers these days, this is a big problem. Repair drones force you to either move slowly or sit still while they deploy or you lose them and have to go buy more. Which usually means you have to go to a shipyard, which defeats the purpose of having repair drones in the first place.
Totally agree!
We need controll over them, to be able to strategically withdraw ships from battle to do repairs and get back in, while another one gets out to repair.
