Best load-out for a mining ship?

Watched a fair few vids on this but I'm still a bit confused.

Using M size argon miners.

Do I need defence turrets on my miners or more mining lasers?

Do the mining turrets with the main mining laser yield a fast mine?

Do NPC's attack miners?

good. and screw small miners i have a magnetar mining nividium 1.2 million per haul. sure i spend 11mil on it 6 mil jut the mk3 thrusters lol. but it has payed for it self several times over. and for defence lots of beams and defence drones.

just like to metion that you can save ALOT by using Mk2 instead of Mk3, the difference is not worth it just look at the numbers, just thought you should know

this might be a dumb question. But what exactly is the difference between a mk1 and mk2 mining laser? i cant see much info in the enciclopedia. is states a different MW output. but how do's that relate to the effectiveness/yield of the mining laser

I see excactly why you ask and basicly it mines faster ;) in the long run it might make you a few credits more, but its really not that much there are others who can probably break down and crunch the numbers to perfection but for a regular player who simply wants some passive income I would advice to go for MK1 if you allready have enough money you could go for MK2 but in my opinion if you allready have that much money you wouldnt even need a miner :) so my educated guess is you will not suffer with MK1 actually the money you save by doing this will do you much good. good luck :)

I was wondering if it's actually worth fitting more than one mining laser. would it increase the speed that i get ore/silicon buy doubling the yield or will it mine at the same rate regardless?

In my humble opinion it does not matter, but I'm not a maximize/minimize player and havent really used a spreadsheet to calculate the differences, maybe others can give more details ;)

Yeah, the bulk of time spent is travelling. This is why even now I still use small fast mining ships for some of my fleet, and for all mining ships I will tend to beef up the engines and give them probes/sats rather than spending money on the guns.

They are set to escape if they encounter rats, but frankly rats still leave miners alone.
