It wouldn't surprise me if they came in some DLC down the line. I mean, even the Boron fellow hints at it when you find the secret station of disc-shaped-ness.

I'd love to see them back too, I loved their ship designs back in TC and AP, even if they were a bit uh... "limited" in weapon choices.

I'm sure they'll make a reappearance in a DLC. We know two DLC's for certain are to be released and it'd be crazy if they don't include new factions. Now what factions we get first is another story.

I believe so along with Boron its a way to introduce DLC as expected..

I don't mind DLC, honestly. This is one of the few games where I actually can't wait. More factions, more ships... I am going to buy it so fast the internet is gonna give.
