New profiles

We are adding more custom joystick profiles to choose from to the game. Check the "load profiles" section to test if a profile is suited for you or use it as a basis for your own changes.

Joystick / Input issues

If you have problems with a joystick make sure you are not using the default joystick profile but one of the other specific ones. The profile is currently broken.

Mouse cursor moves by itself

On some HOTAS systems the mouse cursor may be moving by itself making it hard to fix the incorrect input settings. This is because an axis of an input device is already incorrectly mapped to the emulated mouse cursor. Try changing your HOTAS or Joystick throttle to get it to stand still then change the configuration in settings (especially the device mapping!)

HOTAS / Stick / Warthog default profiles

Before configuring yourself we suggest you first load the best matching default profile for your setup. This just requires the devices to be mapped to the same slots in the device mapping for them to work. (see tutorial for more info on that)

If joystick input feels "digital", as if there is not enough deadzone

Please make sure you mapped the axis in the "Steering: Analog" section of the controls settings.
Every axis can be mapped digital OR analog!

I thought the DEL key or ESC key could be used to clear a bind. It's been a while and this question is a few weeks old so I hope it's been resolved.

I've got a setup with a CM2 and a 32 buttons split.

In the VPC panel, I see:

Why is the left Throttle coming up twice? Maybe VJoy HIDHide and Joystick Gremlin would better map the different controller/button combos for you?

The device is actually two (as shown in the first screen)
Works perfectly in in ED.

Ya i turned controller mode off and it fixed it for me. I use mouse, and 3d space mouse

I made a controller profile. With them you can do literally everything you ever wanted with a controller. Heres the Readme and documentation if anyone is interested.


Important: In order to make this happen, i had to rebind some ingame-bindings.So you have to rebind its all on your own
or just take my input-config file.
The Link and a short description is below.

This Profile is for an XBox One Controller
(including rebinds of the screenshot key - its easy to adopt it on every xbox 360 controller or equal. I will make this Version later too.)

The "B-Button" is used for a lot of alternative bindings. E.g. is "d-pad down" just focus on next target, what it is in vanilla.
While holding "B-Button" it is now "asking for dock permission".


-select/back- (or whatever you used to to call this button right beside start)

- pause (!) double tap "select/back"
- new livestream mode hold "select/back"


-screenshot button- (can easily rebind for controllers without these button, just set it at the "just visual"-buttons on d-pad like screenshot and hide hud)

- open map "screenshot button"
- activate/deactivate turrets doubletap "screenshot button"
- activate/deactivate fps display hold "screenshot button"


-d-pad-

- screenshot (just visual) hold "B-Button" + "d-pad right"
- activate/deactivate hud (just visual) hold "B-Button" + hold "d-pad right"
- activate/deactivate cockpit (just visual) hold "B-Button" + double tap "d-pad right"

- ask for docking permission hold "B-Button" + "d-pad down"
- fast save hold "B-Button" + double tap "d-pad down"
- deploy towers hold "B-Button" + hold "d-pad down" (just hold it for repeated deploying)

- change ammunition hold "B-Button" + "d-pad left"
- use flares hold "B-Button" + hold "d-pad left"

- long range scan mode double tap "d-pad up"
- scan objects hold "B-Button" + "d-pad up"
- activate/deactivate flight assist hold "B-Button" + double tap "d-pad up"
- activate/deactivate aim assist hold "B-Button" + hold "d-pad up"

-Sticks-

- cycle across subsystems hold "B-Button" + "left stick left/right"
- rotate and zoom camera in outside view hold "B-Button" and use the "right-stick" for rotate, "left stick up/down" is zoom

- loot magnet switcher (holds automated) "right stick click" (like in vanilla, but here you dont have to hold it)
- activate/deactivate jumpdrive double tap "right stick click"


-Trigger-

- activate/deactivate navigation system hold "B-Button" + "right trigger (RT)"
- activate/deactivate autopilot hold "B-Button" + "left trigger (LT)"



Most of these you can actually do with a controller, but have to use menus.
Which much slower and a ergonomic hell for your hands.

Especially withouth the option to pause the game and give orders,
controller is really hard to play. With these bindings, its a charm.

I will update this profile description if necessary.

This "input_config" is just a in-game profile for key bindings.
Feel free to rename it (its named "inputmap_1") to inputmap_2 or inputmap_3 so it dont overwrite yours.

So I have a Thrusmaster Airbus edition and I can't get it to work like at all. When I try to map the controls for it, it will only recognize the x and y axis. Even with a profile loaded it won't recognize the joy stick movement at all and I have to use the mouse and keyboard for everything.

Game still does not support T-Flight Hotas joysticks.

Game is totally unplayable with T-Flights Hotas One joystick. Wasted 30+ hours on and off trying to configure the joystick and in game controls. Game kinda sucks just using the mouse only. Waste of money. Seems like every steam game I've brought has issues making most games unplayable or constant crashing at some point despite all the modification you do to get it working. Shouldn't have to modify my PC system operating specs just to "try" and play a game on Steam.

I've really tried to like this game. I bought it years ago when it came out. I even bought a couple expansions. Now that Kingdom End is out, I decided to give it another try. I have an X-56, and even after all this time the controller configuration is still unplayable.

Does anyone have a _working_ profile for the X-56? I've searched, but it seems like every one has something horribly wrong with it. For example -- and this is obviously basic -- the stick and throttle don't work but some of the buttons do. Or those work but some of the buttons just don't. It would be a great plus if there was a graphic of the stick showing what does what. Then maybe I'll buy the other expansions.

It's unbelievable that this game has been out this long and still has a user interface like this.

i been looking also. there is the x-56 pro but that does not work with the x-56. i tryed. i forgot where i got it. seen it when i was looking for horizon and i grabbed it up. i no longer have it. but like i said that was for the x-56 pro. this game has always had a problem with it. and they do not seem to care to fix it. as much as a fan of the X games. i thank i might pass on this one.

^This. I've got TOTAL, about 30mins in this game because of the same issue.

the fact that i just bought this game and it seems and there are comments going back to 2018 about he mouse drift issue with joysticks is very telling. i have no issues with my joysticks in any other game but this one i cant get it to work. will try a couple more things then probably just request a refund.
