No I posted a different one when he did it last time and I had to reload. That's why there is a partial path next to that one. The internal map tiles grow procedurally as one of your ships travel beyond the edge. Every once in a while a scout for some reason decides to travel in long straight lines, expanding the map outward massively. Look at the fog pattern and the internal hex cells that make up the maps and compare the Grand Exchange I map with the other two. Each one of those map tiles is a huge map of its own. They only start small until you expand them.
Yeah I've been growing my sectors slowly but the scouts like to take off and rage my ocd. Things do spawn out there though. I've found abandoned ships to claim, npcs fighting or setting up stations and already built stations. Don't know about the instanced part though. I go through jump gates instantly and maintain my speed from one side to the other.
