Be aware, this is NOT easy mode. Enemy turrets will also eat your lunch if you don’t use those blind spots 😆
Especially among Larger Ships which Rely on Turrets.
There needs to be a Rework of the Ship Designs.
Large Ships deal extremely little Damage for their Size and their Coverage of Turrets is so bad that a Single Fighter can often easily Destroy a Capital Ship.
well X4 is more a 2D as a 3D game ! .... so ever if you think about it you will not find a ship thats top not on the top
thats meby why the ship designs are so 2D and not for 3D ...
i realy miss the X3 time where you real fly in a 3D space !
its not only the autoroll !
ever the sectors are total flat ... and you will never see a station thats upside down !
or if you build a station part its all more 2D as 3D
thats why you can´t build in full 3D style !

and 3D is X , Y , Z - deep ... i know it
but ever if you can use all the x, y , z in the build mode you can´t roll the part in the z !
and thats not full 3D for me .... ever on a 2D base can you have a " deep " but that din´t chance the 2D base !
You have 5 of 6 degree of freedom and you call it 2D? :)
Now only to discover the optimal layout so all those dummy ships heading for the center of station and THEN for docks won't get stranded by anything.
Starter ship beat a capital (took a while).
This shouldnt be a thing.
The only thing in this game with satisfactory coverage is the cross section defense platform :/
All the ships feel poorer since x3, its sad. The M1 and M2s form X3 were proper battle ships, the things we have here are purely for visual effect.
if you take the gorgon with all the 4 turrets ontop, this surely can eb an intnded design. If piloted right you can make all turrest shoot at the enemy. So it can eb a proper deisgn choice.
however many ships in general seem to be really badly designed around use in space. With way too many easy to reach dead angles they cnanot even escape.
So if a ship by nature is slow and fat it surely would have a better and fully coverage. Which entirely seems to be missing here.
But that was an issues in quite a few X games anyways where you just destroyed one turrt if needed and leeched into a nook of a ship shooting it down.
yes i call it 2D ... at full 3D you can build parts not only on top of the things like most of the productions parts.
you need to build it on the "top" ... only some have a anchor for the side to ... but its still a Fix top build system ! ... so 2D for me
but back to OP
yes the L and XL ships are realy weak ... and with the shield system at the mom you can ever kill a XL ship with 1.000.000 shield power with a S ships with 1 dps ( only the hull regeneration will give you probs. )
and if the A.I. use the boost its ever faster to dmg the hull XD
