Game isn't playable atm
Once you filter out the immediate haters who give it a 0 for crashing once, and the sycophants who will defend it no matter what, the true story emorges - this game is window dressing. Half finished, half working...basically a proof of concept instead of a fully functioning system.
I think I made up my mind, I will wait and recheck in a few months.
Rather missleading as currently 11k + playing this game. Seems like a lot of people for "isn't playable"
I agree there are loads of bugs and lots of things seem to be missing and maybe they should wait if they cba with some headaches, but by no means "unplayable".
I'll fix it for you:
Bad optimization. Boy you will know this game is not optimized at all the moment you started the game. I use a RX580 and have to run the game at medium graphic settings or there will be a noticable mouse delay. Also it took like 15 seconds to load or save on a SSD, and opening the map will halves fps.
Autopilot is trash. Your ship only knows how to fly in a straight line, and they do not adjust for buildings and factories. You can spend 30 seconds to dock manually, or you can watch the AI to spend 5 minutes ramming the station until the ship somehow glitched into the building and out onto the dockyard.
Autotrading is trash because your trader does not utilize all their cargo space and they will spend 10 minutes just to buy something like 30 energy cells because "this item has the highest profit ratio".
Station building is the only thing that works, but the process is unnecessary painful and unfriendly.
Not to mention all the glitches and bugs. I was once entering a warp gate and the game decides to teleport me 15000+km outside of the map. It took me around 50 minutes in autopilot mode to get back to an existing sector.
But at least you got npcs all around the world which is nice. They're ugly, but at least you won't feel like in X3, where you're the only living being in the whole universe, and you're just talking to bunch of VHS recorded tapes.
X4 is good and a no-brainer for us, really, as it is the classic experience people expect from Egosoft.
The only matter you should consider right now is whether you want to play now with the remaining launch-issues or wait a bit and give it a shot then.
Seriously?? The only classic experience you're getting from them is another half-finished, half-playable beta release.
Maybe it's a no-brainer for you, but other people seem to be using their brains and seriously questioning Egosoft's credibility and honesty. Again.
That's just a naive hyperbole on your end.
You can close your eyes and pretend it's not what it is, but it is a classic X-game - launch issues aside.
I honestly don't care whether you criticise the bugs or not, but saying this isnt blatant catering to the X3 fanbase, is just incorrect. Plain and simple.
If youre not happy about playing with the issues currently going on, go ahead and wait. Noone stops you. The game won't run away and Egosoft won't abandon ship.
Hey, OP, don't worry. If person A says they enjoy the game, person B will tell you how person A really feels.
73-74% positive rating currently on Steam. I guess only 26-27% of people use their brains.
Personally, I am enjoying the hell out of it. And it will only get better. Make no mistake, this will be a gem and easily the best game in the X-Universe.
