How to move docked fighters inside?
Like the title says: how Can we move the docked fighters from the platform to the inner carrier hangar? I'm becoming mad!

Or out for that matter. Very weird

You get it in if you have a defensive drone on board and get into a fight. It will move the ship inside to get the drone out .... but there also seems to be no easy way to get it out exept moving it to a station or something....

I really think they forgot that pair of orders in the menue

From my own experience, if you are not in sector, then ships dock just fine, but if you are in sector or better yet on ship itself, it seems most of time the docked ship will not be moved inside, and other ships waiting to be docked will get stuck

It can't move it inside while you're on it because that's where it puts it to despawn it. I'd guess that's why it doesn't do it while you're in-sector, too, in case you're aboard.

As far as I know, though, the only way to retrieve a stored ship is to give it an order.

actually it's not directly despawn, there's animation of the ship being elavated down from dock, however, most of the time, that's not happening and ship is stuck at dock, other ships waiting to dock will be waiting there forever until you move out of sector, but i have first hand waitnessed ship being moved inside while i'm on the ship's dock. just not 90% of the time

I know it moves it below the dock, what I meant is that it moves it there to despawn it. It can't do that while the player is on it or Bad Things will happen.

same here :
got a ship in bay, a drone stuck on pad, and a drone waiting to get retrieved...

I had this same issue. Only I had no pilot on board it to give it orders to follow. I tried a bunch of different things. One was to assign a pilot and order it somewhere.
The easiest way I found was to dock, then get off the ship. Hit <Enter> and select "Go to ship". Expand the ship your fighter is stored inside and double click the stored ship. It will say wait, then allow you to go to it. This seems to unstore it.
Yeah, especially if you've got combat going on, externally docked ships are still vulnerable to damage. Though I guess they could take a few shots for you as extra armor that way... Like Soviet tanks with infantry :D

Hoestly, they should add a function to store / lift your ship from storage to the consoles in front of the docking ports.
make the console on all docking ports not currently occupied by NPC-ships accessible to the player and add commands to deliver ships to whatever free docking port you want.
that way players have controll whether or not their ships should be parked on the surface.

I wouldn't be surprised if a method to control this comes with a later patch (or, failing that, a mod).

For me this is a missing feature that i was counting on.
I always loved carrier, i probably loved x series at the first sight for this, for the chance to dock, store inside my precious fighers, launch them when needed...
EGOSOFT needs to fix this.

I'm not sure how to send a docked ship into storage, but to retrieve a stored ship while in space:
CTRL+D to get up from your captains chair.
SHIFT+D to bring up the Fast Travel To menu, click the + sign next to the name of the carrier you're using, in my case, the Cerberus.
Select the ship you want to use and click, Call to Dock.

Was not aware of this functionality, thanks!

Thank you, but i was aware about this.
My Problem wasn't to being able to select a ship in the hangar, but to send a ship into it.

Let me say that i'm almost speachless to think that EGOSOFT has implemented the command "CALL TO DOCK" and not "SEND TO HANGAR"

In my opinion it is a lack of incredible attention. These are details that really make the difference.
Among other things, if this would be purely aesthetic i will handle it, but in reality when they are in the landing pads suffer even damage from enemies...

You can do it easily pressing ctrl+d.
Then select your ship and pres call. But don't know how to dock it.
