How to scan radio signals?
Hello folks!

I am not sure, that I am too stupid for this.
I even started a new game.

The tutorial for "scan" is sending me to a radio signal. But I can do what I want, I can't scan it.
I turned long range scanning, short range scanning on, pressed the buttons long and short, flew by it hundred times.
But nothing works.

What do I wrong?

Thank you!

shift+2

kick it with your ship's nose.

Use short range mode, find the little sparks/confetti icon on a station (signifies a hidden signal)
Move extremely close to it until you can finally interact with it.

Here you can see, that I am already in the signal. I am on 15, 10, 5, 0 meters. Roll, move forward, back etc. Try to turn can scan turn off, turn on etc pp.

It even starts or shows me, that i reached it, but after that nothing.

Too close, in that picture. Very close to your nose, there should be an update on the lower left monitor saying that you are decrypting it or some such, then wait a second without losing that range. Make sure you are in scan mode (shift+2).

go short range scan mode, hug the signal after you detect it.

I did this really often. Soft, hard, in, out, fast, slow. Nothing ...nothing....

Now I changed this Controls to Standards and it worked. I don't know why. But finally it worked.

Thanks for the help!

Hey I've been having the same issue. When you said you "changed this Controls to Standards" what did you mean? because that didn't make sense to me lol

I did change the controls (speed, left, right etc) to use my Thrustmaster joystick. After I changed it to the standard (this standard keyboard settings) it worked.

After one of the first patches I had no problems anymore.

You must come to a full stop, when the scanning starts (you will get a notification on the screen in the lower right), if you move during the scan, it will not work.

The station scanning for radio signals is the worst. I can barely hear the static at all in the first place, and it's easily washed out by environmental noise. Because I'm hard of hearing I'm never able to navigate by sound alone. It's ludicrous, it's the future, we're flying around in advanced spaceships with advanced computer systems, but we have to find these data leaks strictly by listening... ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid...

You'll be far better off jumping out of your ship and using your spacesuit to scan the radio signal. Same thing, just fly up to it and activate scan mode with Shift+2, you'll have to get *really* close, like stick your face right into the epilepsy inducer. Press Backspace lots to stop yourself drifting around. I find that scanning from your ship only has a 50/50 chance of working, but the spacesuit makes short work of it.

Flying around in a poorly controlled spacesuit is one of the things I dislike the most about it.
