BEFORE YOU BUY - READ EGOSOFT FORUMS !!
BEFORE YOU BUY - READ EGOSOFT FORUMS !!
because:

Unfinished and untested Product with bugs, bad gamedesign, bad overcomplicated menus and 1000s of players asking in the forums and here on steam for the most simple things.

- Tutorials are useless except for absolut basic "Press this button" - information. If you can´t find the button, the tutorial will just go ahead. Without you. Well, you can start it again at least.
- The in game Encyclopedia is not implemented and will not help you to explain anything (like for example what certain items do).
- No Handbook.
- Game balance (Fighting, Weapons, Economy etc) is bad and has clearly not been tested before release.
- Mission Design is poorly written, not clear and buggy.
- Bad Character Design
- Many functions are not explained at all (How do Crew level up and how does it affect the game, Which weapon does which damage, crafting, why do we have two different inventories ... the list is long)
- It seems there is a very limited amount of ships and gear. (we dont know how many are there, look at the empty Wiki page. Egosoft just didnt do anything to inform the players.)
- Extremely unintuitive game design

Just see for yourself in the egosoft forums. It´s devided in two groups. Between fanboys who just "love the game" (more correctly the Idea behind the game I guess) and will enjoy telling you: Use your brain to sort the♥♥♥♥♥♥out that Egosoft just coulnd´t get right and people who, with prolonging gameplay realise more and more how bad the situation is.

I am very angry at EGOSOFT for cheating with the Fans like that. And I am not talking about the Fanboys that enjoy paying 50 bucks so they can bend their brain about the bad gamedesign only to say: Ohh, you´re just not smart enough.
Also the silence and occasional: we have "extensive" tutorials from the devs is just a joke!

The only good part is that the people have been very supportive in the steam chats and forums these last days but I guess this will cease in the upcoming weeks after answering questions like: How can I change Crew from one ship to another, how can I sell a ship etc. for the 24435213 time.

To finish this review off I want to give you an example of how messy it is to transfer a crew member to another ship. Copied from the EGOSOFT FORUMS by user PIND in an attempt to positively give the dev´s an idea on what they actually should have done before release!

"Let's trace a crew transfer action: 1) Get to info screen of ship, 2) Select "Information" tab, 3) Expand "Personnel" heading, 4) Expand "Crew" heading, 5) Expand "Full Crew List" heading, 6) Expand crew category heading, 7) Expand crew experience heading, 8 )Right click crew member for context menu"

(and by the way, the game didn´t tell you that you had to do all these steps... it´s the community.)

What a mess - DON`T BUY -> WAIT and read egosoft forums!

egsoft games are always buggy at launch, but playable, they are quick to fix after launch, dlc usually builds and some of their games are still getting updates after 10 years. So its not an immediate fix, you have to go with it ( or refund) but most seem happy

They also have always been traditionally a bit unintuative. Personally, I enjoy having to figure things out. I started about a dozen games this weekend just figuring out how to do things and now I have a pretty decent grasp of the gameplay. I put in several hundred hours in X3 and never was a master at it.

I'm afraid you need to be clinical-grade retarded to preorder or day-1 buy this after X Rebirth.

I dont have these problems. The game for me has been pretty much bug free so far (~25h), theres plenty of mission, all work fine for me, I have finished my HQ station, own 5 ships already, all is fine. I think these "OMG BUGS" posts are exaggerating a bit. Sure I also see a lot of potential for improvement in further patches and DLCs but so far the game works fine. It's pretty much a combination of E:D and Eve in but in SP.

Or or or, you could just do that, see the game your self for a bit and use the refund system that everyone forgets exists on steam.

i have to be agree at the moment this is true !

But i managed to play a way i can have a lot of fun by earning money without playing much mission so it's ok for getting stronger :D

Encyclopedia missing some information that's true !

Mission are bugged, and sometime cluncky on description (The briefing not totaly fiting with what you really have to do)

But this is gonna be better with time !

True, you can wait some month before getting in ! Waiting for major issue fix and this is gonna be a great game !

he isn't bad in that state, just lack a lot of test !

But if you really aren't affraid about some bug that aren't " THAT " gamebreaker, go in, it will get better and better anyway and you can help the team by reporting issues, bug and stuff !
Have a nice day everyone :)

BEFORE YOU BUY: Steam store page does not state minimum requirements IQ 120+

Seems like the only people complaining are ones that haven't really played the original xgames, imo the only thing wrong is the menus aren't complex enough like the old games, sucks having to issue orders thru the info screen only and the options can be limited. I liked it when you could just right click a ship from any point in the game and give it direct orders, my ships tend to get confused sometimes cuz they stack useless orders as well. Other than that it's looking good

I already bought it and am enjoying it immensely.

I believe I had ONE mission that bugged on me (a repair mission that failed immediately after I accepted it) otherwise I've been pretty good. Only issues I've seen have been some wonky docking AI and one time running into that weird teleportation bug.

Huh? All that you described is totally normal for an X game on release.

I pre-ordered the special edition back in September because even if the game was royally unplayable on release it would be fixed. I support Egosoft and trust that they will do everything in their power to get me a good game. They haven't failed yet. I was playing X:R up to release of X:4.
Herne The Hunter Dec 3, 2018 @ 4:16am
I did not pre order, but I watched people streaming, and decided that the game looked good and stable enough that it was worth a try. Very happy with this game so far, felt a little lost at first but I am enjoying it immensely.

You can literally do this in 2 steps. Put both ships in the same station (docked); Talk to crew you want to transfer and choose work somewhere else. Done.

had just 3 little bugs, the fps could be a bit more improved but its playable have 60 fps in space and 30+ on stations, actualy i like it that i have to learn even after 12 hours. its more fun for me this way. works well with hotas. dont forget, its a sim not arcade, so just sit for it dont be hasty expecting you understand everything on the go. if anyone gets frustrated bcouse he or she doesnt understand what or how to do things i suggest to play a different game lol.

Havent had this mutch fun with a space sim sinds ED.
