do SHIFT 2 for scanning

jump into space suite
and repair beam the red flashy thingy on the unclaimed ship, that will claim it for you
Note to devs, the Tutorial is bugged I think or outdated, hope this helps.
Not so much bugged as more if you get close to a derelict ship it will prompt you to do the tutorial if you haven't yet using whatever the nearby derelict ship was as the target.
Problem being sometimes the derelict ship you got into proximity of is M sized or larger which requires a marine to board to capture instead... which is another tutorial altogether.
So all that's really missing is a condition check for derelict ship size, if it's a S sized ship then trigger the standard ship boarding tutorial prompt, if it's M sized or larger, trigger the marine boarding tutorial prompt.
Alternatively, just do the tutorials when you first start playing so you'll know what to do when you come across these things.... but that's just a silly idea.
Only if it's size M or larger.
Size S ships can be claimed by just hacking it.
If this marine start to go around and around (BUG), leave the sector and inmediately the ship will become yours, the marine will become the captain.
You can now send it from the map to be repaired or to be sold. Without the necsity to go back to that sector if you don't want to.
If you don't want to use the marine you will need to go EVA and become the pilot.
Good to know, so if i want to board and aquire transport sized ships (Hermes) i now have to use a marine, contrary to prior X-Games, where boarding started with M6 Corvette sizes?
They really should add that info into the tutorials.
Edit: Marines needed to capture M sized ships is correct.
Thnx a lot guys, that helped me out and got me my frist "repurposed" transport.
