Empire Building and Diplomacy
Hello,

I am on the edge of purchasing this game becaue i love the concept of being able to build your own empire. But i am curious how actually does it work.

Is it just very basic? Or can i build an empire and take over areas, hire people to work for me etc. Any info will help. For example i really enjoy Mount and Blade and how i can create my own kingdom.

Also is there diplomacy? Will i have to deal with other factions or empires? If so to what extent?

I just started but its easily the best space game available. It needs updates though.

So far it seems you could take over entire sectors of space with you fleets or perhaps even cause enenmy stations to die off in trader wars if you build your own stations to compete with their business.

It's still pretty early in this iteration of the game to see how Empire building goes. Everyhting happens in real time (no one seems to have gotten SETA yet) and therefore very few people have more than a couple stations up and running of that much less cleared an entire sector of space through sheer combat.

X games are not about dipolomacy or even traditional National Empire but they are about building an Economic empire. Sure in late game you could in X3 take over sectors.

Hpwever, at present it plays a bit dumbed down and is actually more shallow than modders made x3.

For me X3 is still the king, but maybe this will be the usurper in the future. X3 + Mayhem mod allows empire control of sectors and takeover with diplomacy.

I have this game from GOG, and at present Im shelving it until more patches flesh out some of the more intricate things. It seems more complicated but having looked at it more I think they've taken away a lot of the control and actually made it easier. I like the economic depth they are looking for, the parts upgrades and other things but it's just not as good as x3 yet. If you are looking for economic builder and empire - the X series has always been the best.

So is it worth a buy ? Yes, but the caveat is that it needs some time and tlc
