Blinking question mark while travelling

What does it mean? i only saw it on the map, is it visible on the radar too?

I believe this is a bug. I've noticed that every time it happens the ship was actually close to some question markers, like mines or lockboxes. They weren't where the question mark blinked on map and never found anything by going to the map locations.

It is not a bug. It means you passed something your ship cannot identify. Go back to it and see.

How close by? Also it was on the map far ahead of me, flying to the sort of location it was i found nothing while scanning all directions.

He's talking about the map. Sometimes question marks will appear and blink for a moment and then vanish. In the 20 or so times I've investiated them tehre never was anything at their locations on the map, but for the past few times it happened I noticed my ship was close enough to some question marks to be on radar. I'm 90% sure it's a bug.

I massively searched the area round the question mark with nothing in sight so far... im gonna take it a little bit further south and if nothing appears im gonna say its a bug

So guys i went back into the same sector and the ghost blip appeared again. This time i tracked it down. IT was a lockbox floating in space, no idea why my scanenrs didnt pick itu p yesterday. But it seems ghost marks are not just ghosts. THey arent 100% accurate tho so you need to be eyes up for more marks appearing when travelling

When you hear the sound (quiet little electronic UI sound) and see the flashing icon use the long range scanner in the direction you saw/heard, that will reveal the ? permenantely for you to go to, its almost always a lockbox, and the rarity of the lockbox, if the icon is orange its got good loot, blue ok loot and white less valuable loot.
