Where/When to use satellites?
My first X game and so far I've been using them when the game tells me and thats it.

But I feel like I'm not using them enough

If that's a product you would like your traders to sell, then sure. Basically the game works like this.. NPC's will float about doing trade all the time. So when a big cargo hauler pulls in to a station and buys out all its stock, the price on that item shoots up. If none of your ships have been near that station in the past 5 hours, they won't know about the sudden price hike.

So they'll bumble along thinking they can get a good deal, reach the station and be faced by the crushing reality that pervades us all, forcing them to either take the loss and buy at a premium, or find somewhere else. So yea... Not very efficient.

Sattelites help fix that issue, so your miners and traders will always select the best stations for their money.

They're mostly used to keep info updated on stations in real time. So put them around stations you intend to trade with often. Let's say you get in to the mining bussnis. Then you'd want some around a few refineries so your miners can compare the best prices for their haul.

It's also a good idea to have a few around wharfs and shipyards so you can buy new ships no matter where you are.

Oh, that's why it told me to put a satellite by the shipyard? Good to know.

Would it be good to place them at all of these resource stations too? For example, spice?

Perfect!

This is how I thought it worked, but needed to be sure.
