How do I transfer them to another ship when in space?
you have to REALLY micromanage crews down to running around stations and finding them.
Because commands are blocked behind skill ranks.
really really annoying. GL gettign a decent fleet up and running in this game.
Also what do the numbers mean if you talk to someone?

Hire people from big ships. They're better almost universally.
Found crew (besides captains) are better if you are willing to spend the time. To find them find a station that has a couple "Luxury Docks." Every time you enter a whole new group will be generated to look through, but be quick, they are all going to run for the exits.
Crew show one of two types, Engineering and Boarding. Below that stat is Moral. There are a couple things worth knowing here. Fist is that what you see is not the real value of the individual. Sometimes when you hire someone you will find there best skill is not one of the three previously listed above. Given enough time and looking, you will get full star managers or pilots. Similarly, I have found the crew is almost as good in Engineering as in Boarding. This leads to the second tip, the price to hire is often a better gauge that looking at the stars if you are looking for something that is not the facial stat. Prices seem to range from 500 - 4000. 4000 will be more than a full star usually and will translate to a second tier crew or marine. I don't pay less than 3000 for a crew/marine as a rule.
