Toggle Target Lock?
Does anyone know what is unique about this function or what it does over normally locking a target? It seems to preform the same funcation as regularly targeting an item.

t is my way to target everything since many X games.
you want to do it with keyboard, not with mouse.
If you fly into that direction, the station directly in front of you...
but the station is unknow, or a gate... what now?

there are mutlipel ways to do it.
If you click on a unknown object on the map and press t, you can find it in the space better (so an arrow shows where it is compared to your orientation)

From my understanding, the Target Object command is what you use to target objects that your ship is pointed at (under your reticle circle). The stats about that object appear on the right floating display in your cockpit. The Previous Object and Next Object commands will cycle though whatever objects are range of your scanner. The Toggle Target Lock "should" untarget whatever you have targeted in the right display returning it its default blank state. However, it does not seem to work.

If you have something targeted and use your mouse to click anywhere on your canopy (the thing you are looking out of in the cockpit), the current target will become unlocked and the right floating view screen will become blank as well. This is of course providing you are not clicking on some asteroid or another ship out in from of you.

Pressing the Toggle Target Lock should do the same thing as clicking in empty space.

If I'm not correct let me know as for the life of me I can't untarget anything without clicking in empty space.

Toggle target lock is for gamepad/joystick users using gamepad mode. By default the game targets the next nearest thing to your reticle. As you can understand, that would get annoying very quick as the game would keep switching targets. So the toggle target lock keybind is to keep your lock on the target you want.
