HOTAS worth it?
I Have an x52 that I use for ED and SC, really like the extra immersion.

Is it worth setting it up for X4, or is it more of an arcade style flight mechanic, where mouse is best way to fly?

I used a toothpick for the detent with some tape. 18 hours so far, only 1 toothpick. Even if I have to replace it everyday, still nice for a temp change to my setup.

I am having issues with my x52 sensitivity. It is way too sensitive. Maybe I am forgetting something to set up/configure with my x52, but I have never had a game react so much.

Dead zone only helps so much, because as soon as you breach the threshold, the sensitivity kicks in.

It would be nice to have is be less sensitive the closer you are to center so you can move in smaller increments when close, and faster rotation when far from center.

Any tips?

You're not alone. It's happened to me, too.

I might have fixed that yesturday with the option Settings--> controls-->"Confine mouse to window" and then restarted the game.

Im not sure that that was what fixed it but it had to do with mouse settings in combination with hotas (same go's with the issue i had that my ship was drifting like crazy this fixed it i think)

Dont forget the restart of the game !

Working for me now after doing this - Thank you!

i hope they do add more refined options for us hotas users

at the moment all i can think of is using software apps like in my case for my hotas its the thrustmaster T.A.R.G.E.T (havent used it yet for X4..too lazy) or joystick curves which was the first software i used for my first hotas

I was able to turn down the senstivity overall in the x52 app. I will test this shortly.

You can configure individual "bands" in the software, also. Effectively, they are percentages you move the joystick (1 - 33%, 34 - 66%, 67 - 100% for example). However, I am unable to configure the sensitivity for each band, which would be ideal, and sounds just like the joystick curves which you are talking about.

The toothpick is barely sticking out. Actually, I broke it in half. I want it to tell me where reverse is, not slow me down from getting there.

yep tips i asume you have the pitch roll rotate on the wrong bindings, in settings go to controls then general and bind the movements to the ones at the top of the list primary steering axis, secondary steering etc.

I made the same mistake in the beginning aswell ><

after that i changed the deadzone aswell and the sensitivity to 100 ><

The controls are all mapped properly. Everything works great except for the sensitivity being far too touchy.

Using Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS HOTAS

Works great.

how? I can't get the throttle right. It has detent at 20% but can't convince the game to zero at that point.

I either use bi-dir throttle but then the full stop is somewhere in the middle air, hard to achieve. Or I don't use bi-dir throttle but then I have no reverse and the detent makes the ship constantly flying.

That's hardly "perfect" (it's on the edge of unusable really).

I can't find the zeroing function Elite has. Or at least it should be set to 20% for X52.

You can also bind a button for full stop (eng off?) anyway without Bidir thr you can also bind a button to reverse throttle (if i remember correctly from what ive seen in the controls)

Yes, thats what I did. Bind a button to reverse engines, and if you hold it in, it, well, reverses engines 👍
