atleast that is what ive seen from the devs before launch
The system in x rebirth was not working at all.
you tried to get your owned ships to follow you and they would all arrive at vastly different times.
So This idea if this is what replaced it for x4 makes sense. and whoever came up with it at egosoft to solve the problem. can only say bravo.
I feel your pain though. They were nice to have. Maybe we'll get them back in future updates.
"Jump device charging.."
Agree there, that's so stupid x 4.5e6
I'm hoping they do add them back in as I would love to have escape jump points set up for my capital ships if they are on the verge of being defeated by the overwhelming Xenon force. (Que BSG Music)
Now you don't get quick to the place of action but instantenous.
Teleporter have the same tactical use as a Jumpdrive just better kinda.
Make sure you have always some kind of force projection at any given time spread around your assets and you golden.
The only thing that is now a thing of the past is the one Golden Ship Strategie jumping around all over the place in you single Golden Star Fighter.
Imho the change is most welcome and at least for a lmited time keeps the expansion of a player reigned in.
Either way, teleporters have way more utility jump drives at the highest research level. It's freaking awesome to be able to teleport into a trading ship under assault and save it before it explodes, or over to the faction stations real quick to check on a blueprint from a faction representative, or to pick up a newly built ship, or to quickly go back to base to check on something without having to stop what you're doing and fly out of your way. Ships don't take that long to travel on their own now anyway. Now we have a lot more options being a truly separate part of our fleets and empires.
