Building a dock on the unknown structure

I followed a quest that awarded me a station (awesome) and it wants me to build a dock. So I bought a freighter to bring the parts it wants in but... I can't dock.. and I doesn't look like it has any container space for me actually put the parts in anyway... ? Do I have to rent a constructor and load the parts on him?

Or am I missing something simpler? Is he going to cost a bazillion? XD

I'm also thinking I'll drop a few laser towers around, because pirates are everywhere all the time always... is that fair or do they run out?

I was scanning the first station and there was a signal. Some dude in a tank wanted help with his research. A few quests later we warped in a station from... subspace?

The station actually has most of the parts (and extra) already available. You just need to hire a builder (since its too expensive to buy a builder ship for you atm). Go into the construction menu and under the Builder section click hire a builder and choose an NPC builder that is within range of one of your ships. The easiest way to find one is to go to a shipyard

I am at the same Plot. If you choose that NPC Builder, does he/she collect the Materials him/herself with the MOney provided? Not sure how i get the Building process startet >D

When i hired my builder it took him well over a hour to get to the station to start his job lol

Ya welcome to X universe. The AI follows the same rules as you. If he is far away he still has to travel the gate system to get to it. Always been this way even in X3.. Which is why eventually you want your own construstion ship. :)

You can also select your ship with the goods, right click the station, and tell it to transfer wares to building storage. Haven't figured out a way to do that manually on a ship you're piloting, though. Builder needs to be present to actually start construction as well.

I built dock, hired ship, but apparently not enough resources to build dock. So now scraping up cash to pay for rest.

also if you go into the station building section and select the part being built you can see how long it will take the transports delivering wares to get to your drop off
