How do you disable "Chase the Dot" mouse steering?
I have always hated "chase the dot" as a steering method for mouse, as it always leaves me drifting when I don't want to. I prefer to have a hard axis attached to mouse movement. X3:TC allowed you to toggle between the modes, but I can't find the option here.

For those that don't understand, Hard axis is when you move the mouse up, your ship will pitch down as fast as you move, or the maximum speed the ship can pitch, which ever is slower. Same with the Yaw. Also if you hold hte mouse still, the ship will immediately stop pitching or yawing.

This 'chase the dot' has a giant dead zone near the middle where all movement stops. Very simple to get use to. I personally think the dead zone is actually a bit too large.

That is not an answer to my question. I don't care if it has a "deadzone" I don't want it.

Neither of these does what I ask. Thank you.

I remapped Ctrl Space to just space and remove Space for firing weapons. I was firing on stations way too often by mistake.

Regardless of 'what you want' this is 'what you have'. No you cannot disable it. Pray tell how else are you going to control your ship with the mouse? Use a HOTAS if you don't like the mouse control.

Ok, Let me be clear, Ctrl+Space does not do what I ask. Neither does Shift+space.

Shift+space simply makes chase the dot on all the time. This is the opposite of favorable.
I have no idea what CTRL+Space even does.

You are not being constructive here. Please be gone.

If it won't let me play the way I want to, I have 2 options, I can request them to add it back in as it should have been there to begin with, or I can return it. Telling me to just deal with it is not helpful in the slightest. Having more features is never a bad thing.

More features for what? What do you want? Either use a stick HOTAS or use the mouse. What new fangled control scheme do you want? Wow. You don't even know what Ctrl Space does which is absolutely mind boggling.

Ctrl Space stops the mouse control and lets you move the cursor without moving the ship. So if you center the mouse and press Ctrl Space and move the mouse it won't move the ship.

I don't have a freaking joystick, and I just want to enjoy the game the way I did the previous games. It's not "New fangled" if it was the way it played before you got to the series!

Why are you so against there being the option to do so?

Also, I don't know what CTRL+Space does, because when I press it, nothing appears to change. Nada. It still runs Chase the Dot, without any change whatsoever.

I get u i miss the the good old mousecamara stearing too but after some fiddeling and like 2-3h of running 'chase the dot' ull get used to it would apriciate it if they would patch an oldscool control set.

btw CTRL+Space toggles of flight assist so u are under the 'law' of mass inertia.

Ok, that explains why I saw no effect, as I hadn't tried to actually thrust the ship yet. I instead spent 50 minutes trying to enable the classic steering, which apparently Egosoft doesn't want to support.

I have tried to get used to it in too many games already. I can't, it's garbage for a control scheme, even with a deadzone.

I think what you are after is the boresight steering. You move the mouse and the ship moves. I don't think this is in the game. But will check next time I'm in the game.

Try it this way: when u flight around e.g. a station staer the ship to a point where u have free flight for a bit and shift+space out of aoutofollow and when u need to make a courve shift+Space back to make it and then again to flight straight so u wont need to relay on a deadpoint thats the way i come along best. [Edit ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ a lot of typos]
