How Are You Supposed to Dock?
I'm completely stuck on docking. It says align axes with green stuff. There is no green stuff. I approach the docking port and I see a hologram of the ship. As I get closer, it disappears. There are no green guides anywhere. What on earth is the tutorial talking about with this axes alignment stuff?

There is no bug involved, just align all 3 axis properly - you are in 3D space :)

If you really don't want to learn how to dock you can always buy a pliot and let him dock. Later the docking computer mk2 will do auto-docking for you.

Had some trouble with this at first too, but once you get the hang of it, you can dock in seconds. Just put your reticle in the green circle, and line up the red ship icon to center, bring her down. The landing captain will also guide you if you look at her hand signals.

Align as best you can, hover above the platform, make sure your targeting reticle is ligned up first, turn off shift +space thing so its stays static above it.

Use wsad and slight speed up or move back to keep aligned and slowly move down.
There is a hologram right infront of you sort of showing you the way.. plus an ahole npc waving his arms around lol which is distracting if you dont get it. xD

Dont try to rush down on the platform, you will clip through, eventually if you're low enough and aligned right it will automaticly place you down on the platform.

does docking mk2 software dock the ship for you?

I noticed docking software mk1 at least puts you down faster when you are above the landing pad.

But no idea what mk2 will do.

Heh yeah I don't get any of those lights at that at all. Oh well, maybe time for a refund until they get they can fix their stuff.

Docked several times, had no issues, I think it might be you!

1. follow the green lights to the pad, you should see a green holo ship showing you which pad to land on. (AND THE DIRECTION TO FACE)

If you're not getting the lines as shown in the images, then I think you might be facing the wrong way, in that case you should see a "turn around" arrow on screen. Make sure you're above the right pad, and you have docking permission.

2. Once you get the lines on screen, point the middle of your screen to the red dot, it will then turn green - if you have auto roll off, then you will need to roll the ship until the top left and right lines are green

3. Bottom lines - this is the forward/backward alignment. you will see a little triangle at the bottom. move your ship forward/backward until the top of the triangle (with a little line on it) is level with the bottom left/right line - it then should go green

4. Height - now you should have top green dot, and lines, bottom green lines. And above the triangle at the bottom sould be a small arrow pointing downward - \/ - use the W/S (S) keys to strafe downward until the \/ arrow meets the bottom triangle...

Voila - you have landed! - once you have done it a few times... it's really easy to do!

btw - CTRL+D to get docking permission from station...

Erm guys OP already found out what was happening, it wasn't him not being able to follow the light, he literally had no indicator due to chosing a different view perspective, which removes some (or all of them).

There are those that are experiencing actual bugs with docking.

On several occaisons I've been lined up perfectly, all indicators green, and am unable to dock, just clip right through the floor.

Happened twice to me as well, the second time managed to get unclipped and found out I had to get a bit higher on the platform (the indicator was green in both positions btw)

After strugging for a while I now think manual docking is actually FUN. You just need to know there are FOUR lines you have to align to:
first check your nose (dot) points at the little circle (it turns green when it is okay)
then level your artificial horizon (use q and e for default)
get the little triangel in the center
then move forward or backwards until the tip of the little triangel makes one line with the ground line
move down and feel happy.

I know it sounds difficult, but once you understood what the lines mean its really simple.

I found that you can clip through any surface if you are parralel to it, as though you were landing.

Have same problem here.

I had difficulty docking my Frigate. so I just let the NPC captain dock. (prior to getting the docking computer. and before a bug glitched and blew up my ship/me)

Just to rule out problems with a savegame, try a completely new game (even a different game start), and see if docking works there.

I tried new starts to no effect, but on restarting the game client entirely the bug was fixed. Not sure what the deal was there. Also it turns out when you actually have the damn docking lights it's easy to do.

edit:So I figured this out- the toggle cockpit has three cycles, not two. As it turns out, hiding the cockpit hides the landing lights. The first cycle through re-enables the cockpit outlines but not the landing lights, the second cycle re-enables the lights. Really not sure why it's done this way, or why hiding the cockpit hides the landing lights at all. I just wanted less clutter on my screen, not key features of the game disabled!
