wow can you list specs including resolution

mine:
2700x
gtx 1080
16gb ram
ssd
1440p
High preset - 4xmsaa - 60fps locked outside - 40-50 in stations.

GTX 1080 here and getting 70 - 80. Turn off AA or at max put at FXAA medium.

i7-7700k @5ghz 1080ti 16gB_RAM nvme 1440p msaa-2x ultra_everything

despite this antialiasing is garbage even if you set it to 8x msaa, shadows are also garbage despite being on the highest setting, it looks so blocky.

I'm also getting crashes withing 15 minutes of playing, I am overclocked though so I'll reset everything back to base settings and report back here if the crashes are fixed from that.

My specs:
i7-7700k @4.2ghz GTX1080 16GB 2560x1440
With this I expect everything running smoothly with ultra-everything and nice looking AA. And then I look at the game and the performance and I just want gouge my eyes out...

I'm running a I7-2600K@ 4.5ghz GTX 1070, 16gb ram 1920x1080 with everything on High and it looks ok and is smooth.
Damn Dirty Ape Nov 30, 2018 @ 8:52pm
Are you using msaa or ssaa? Because that absolutely kills frame rates in this game for some reason. Try running on nothing or fxaa

i7 7700k
1080 Ti FTW 3
32GB RAM
.m2 960 Evo

At Ultra settings I get a stable 60 fps, no crashes, and the biggest dip is when the game autosaves which takes about 5-10 seconds.
does that mean with my asus RTX 2080 ti ill get junk considering my last 2080 ti died after a month.

Doesn't matter what kind of AA i use, it either is really crappy looking AA or it kills the framerate.

this ^^

are your shadow bad aswell? primarily ships shadows cast onto stations?
Mav1868 Nov 30, 2018 @ 9:07pm
I delete my X4 user folder, start the game, set graphics quality to ultra, wait in the start menu for ship to approach the station and the shadow looks really bad.

thats the same as me then, so I imagine that this effects everyone and is 'intended'

I have a 1070 and mine looks fine on 1440 with ultra settings. Are you using AA? You don't want to use that in the 4k 2k range.
Mav1868 Nov 30, 2018 @ 9:17pm
Of course i want to have AA . But I guess I can't b/c there is no point.

I currently use a 1060 3GB and have FXAA set to high, and get decent framerates (40-70). And that's with 2160x1280 resolution. It -can- be done.
