Try that, see if it works...
To be clear, using old Sidewinder FF2 joystick, and keyboard / mouse. I'd bound my MMB to mouselook (toggle). I was sitting in space, perfectly still, no mouse steering...and my viewpoint wasn't changing at all. I'd go into mouselook, and as soon as i toggled it off again (with mouse pointer dead centre) it was as if I was drifting, and only a little input (e.g. strafe down) would stop it.
I switched off Gamepad mode, and voila! No more drifting.
In case it also helps, I also couldn't find out how to clear a keybind - DEL does the trick.
It was the gamepad mod setting i had to turn off. Thank you sir!! Hope you have a lucrative weekend and good luck out there.
